Oh right. Shame but I still want to see it so I've seen them all. Maybe James Wan needs to come back.
Yes, definitely. I think I was editing my last as you were posting, but the third is actually directed by Leigh Whannell (plays 'Specs' in all four movies and is also co-writer of them all).

Oh right thanks, good to know. Wouldn't have guessed that.

Under The Shadow

It's a pretty good horror film from Iran. It takes inspirations from other horror movies mainly The Devil's Backbone and a little bit from The Babadook. It starts off slow, but there's a build up that has a very interesting pay off. There's a couple of scares towards the end that are really effective. It's a horror movie that has something to say and the director manages to deliver that through this ghost story.
8.5/10

Katie Says Goodbye -- Depressing, well-acted

Dr. Strangelove -- Perfection

Any Given Sunday -- Decent

John Carpenter's Vampires, for 31 Nights of Halloween.

Ecologia del delitto / A Bay of Blood (1971)
Caught this as part of Nite to Dismember 3's midnight movie marathon. I wanted to like it, it had nice kills and ... assets, but the story was just **** and I couldn't get into it. Only stinker of the night, at least, with Scream, House on Haunted Hill, Poltergeist and The Mind's Eye.

Still not too grand on health front, so decided to watch SW : Episodes VII & VIII back to back. First time I've watched them continuously and work really well in fairness.

Working my way through the Hellraiser films in honour of it being the month of All Hallows Eve and all. Last watched Hellraiser II: Hellbound, I'd completely forgotten how bat**** insane this movie is. LEVIATHAN! "The doctor is in". Gotta love Clive Barker. :D

There are a couple of great one liners in Hellraiser II. "And to think I hesitated." I've always loved that flick.

Venom - 4/10

Tom Hardy makes this movie watchable. I got Nic Cage vibes in terms of how committed he is to the role and makes interesting choices. His performance is anything but generic, which I appreciate. But the rest? This movie sucks. Venom in Spider-Man 3 for some of its problems still felt more true to the character and more interesting than this. For one thing because it maintains the core to him which is HE COMES FROM SPIDER-MAN.

Uncle Drew - Better than expected

Bleeding Steel- Kiddie cyber punk movie, but Jackie Chan, so I watched.

Venom was meh, still want a sequel with Carnage, though.

Hostiles
This movie deserved so much more attention. It’s so underrated.

Hi Kvz5 thanks for your post. I am not a big fan of westerns but am intrigued by this movie. What were some of the things that you liked the most about Hostiles?

I saw Solo recently. Very entertaining film which needed tighter editing and could have done with a much smaller budget. The cinematography and vfx and production design were gorgeous but there was too much money clearly spent on the film

The acting, first and foremost. The entire ensemble was amazing but Bale and Pike, in particular, were superb. The cinematography and score were beautiful too. The themes of loss, forgiveness, and acceptance were wonderfully explored. It’s a well crafted western IMO.

The Mummy (1932) Boris Karloff
The Mummy (1999) Brendan Fraser
The Mummy Returns (2001) Brendan Fraser

A STAR IS BORN

A famous country rock musician Bradley Cooper as Jackson Maine, and a looking for her big break, extremely talented singer and songwriter Lady Gaga as Ally attempt to have a relationship and make beautiful music together

PRAISE: I knew going in that Gaga would knock it out of the park with her musical performances. How this woman is able to channel some Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand into her performance was mesmerizing.
It's Cooper who is the musical revelation in the film.He soulfully performs with an on stage swagger as if he's been singing and performing at stadiums for years.
I have so much admiration for his Direction of this film. The chemistry between the two is off the charts.
Cooper gives the weathered by life performance as a man dealing with personal demon's and physical ailments while trying to maintain a loving relationship
Their scenes together are electric, powerful and soul stirring.
Gaga is a revelation with her acting giving as much as Cooper can or any other actor in the film
The supporting cast is absolutely outstanding:Andrew Dice Clay,Dave Chappelle,Sam Elliott and Anthony Ramos.

PROBLEMS: Some old hat been there done that moments about losing your soul in the music industry.

This film will likely receive a ton of award nominations and it's deserving of all of them
One of the best movies of 2018

Scale of 1-10 a 9

VENOM

So can Venom work as a stand alone character and movie without a hint or whisper of Spider-Man?

PRAISE:The Jekyll and Hyde back and forth between Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom.
The character design and some of the SFX and voice work. Some good action sequences and some laughs here and there

PROBLEMS: Even going in with extremely low expectations,i left the theatre disappointed.
What was with all the slapstick? The script is schizophrenic, with additional memory lapses. The delivery of lines was extremely grating and terrible.
Michelle Williams talents....wasted.Riz Ahmed cookie cutter cliched villain.
To many quirky moments reminded me of some of those lame comedies from the 80's
One action sequence goes on for painfully to long.
The film is just all over the place.
I hope SONY doesnt go forward with Black Cat or Kraven the Hunter
At least they still have Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse up their sleeves.
