Superman Returns What was with the killing?

Superman killed 3 people. Superboy killed one. Where are the scenes where they deal with the guilt?

That's not my point. Superman had to know they died because he would hear it. I understand the reasoning for him not helping them, but I still think we should see his guilt.

At that point in the movie you cannot dedicate screentime to superman feeling bad that a couple of goons got squashed. The scene would have no place within the film. It would just feel tacked on.

I think all the bank robbers who jumped into the helocopter died aswell. All the bankrobbers except the one manning the gatling cannon. the Bullets bounced of supes and pelted the chopper.

Why did the thugs have to die any way what dramatic purpose was served by the deaths. Now if Luthor in a selfish attempt to escape sacrificed them to accomplish his getaway that would serve a purpose.
