What has been everyone's best birthday?

I have a TERRIBLE history of bad birthday's and I'd really like to have a nice birthday this year, but I haven't got a clue where to start.

Maybe I can get some ideas from you guys!

My bad birthdays (now in spoiler tags due to the poster below indicating they altered the intention of the thread).
18th - everyone forgot. 19th - fell asleep in a club and everyone left assuming i'd gone. 20th - boyfriend shoved me to the ground. 21st - Went to a friends funeral and wake. 22nd - Went for a meal, got food poisining. 23rd - Stayed in watching movies because i'd given up on birthday's!

Admit it, this wasn't really about asking us about our best birthdays but instead enlightening us to the misery of yours.

No...

I'm genuinely sat here browsing through websites on stuff like laser tag and paintball, thinking of what to do for my birthday which is coming up in a few weeks, cause i'd really like to have a good one...

But if it makes a sensitive soul like you happy, i'll put my bad birthdays in spoiler tags.

Now can you refrain from your attempts to undermine me so that people can actually share their fun birthday stories?

Though if my prediction is correct, you've successfully killed this thread.

Thanks.

No need for the drama or spoiler tags.
I'm far from sensitive about these interweb occurrences, I'm just obstinate.
Let's see, having a happy birthday is quite reliant on the people involved.
Do you have a good network of friends who enjoy your company and you enjoy theirs?

Laser tag and paintball would be great, again it depends on the type of friends you have.

10th birthday was my best. Slumber-party with about twenty friends. We had a giant super-soaker fight, watched enough R-rated movies to make one wuss call his parents and go home and pretty much made a ruckus into the wee hours. I don't know how my parents tolerated that insanity.

Second best was my 21st birthday. Friends surprised me with some sparkling wine on the front stoop to my dorm. Popped it and drank heartily. Campus safety came by to investigate, but ended up congratulating me when I showed them I had just turned 21. "Carry on, but don't go crazy" they told me. But.... I did. And I got laid later.

Turning 29 in a couple months. I've had a lot of birthdays I've completely forgotten. Some sucked, some were ehhhh, but a couple were just awesome. Doubt 29 will fall in the awesome category, but I guess it's whatever you make it.

My best birthday ever was last year's (2010) when I turned 27.

See, im a huge Orlando Magic fan, but living in California and now Tennessee, going to a home game was not in the cards. But going to a Magic game at the O-Rena was always something I wanted to do.

In 2009 my parents were gonna buy me a ticket to the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals. Unfortunately, they were unable to get the tickets, and I didn't go to the game... The game that would have been the series clinching game thatd send us to the NBA Finals.

Well they ended up getting me a ticket to next years Eastern Conference Finals, against the Boston Celtics. Nobody else was able to go, so I made the drive from Nashville to Orlando by myself. Hung out at some Orlando bars, met some people, walked around downtown Orlando, met Ray Allen's mom, and went to the game.

Obviously, stepping into the arena I always wanted to go to, let alone for an important playoff game, was overwhelming. When I came back to my seat after halftime, the people sitting behind me asked me if I was supposed to be sitting where I was. I said yea. They said security people were looking for me. I was kinda like WTF, but whatever, if there are problems, they will come back and I have my ticket.

Some cheerleaders came up to my section, and were looking around for someone. Didn't see what they wanted, and left. People behind me were joking that I had won something.

Turns out they weren't far off. The cheerleaders came back in the 4th quarter and started talking to me. See, what happened was I had posted on the Orlando Magic forum about being a Magic fan from California, and now Tennessee, and how I had always wanted to go to a game in Orlando, and finally was able to, and was making the drive down. Apparently people in the Orlando Magic organization saw my post, and came looking for me (I didn't realize at the time, but someone had asked me where my seat was, and I told them) because they had gifts of appreciation to give me for my support of the team, and wanted to express how much they appreciated my support. The gifts were a bunch of rare Orlando Magic memorabilia and some t-shirts.

The Magic ended up winning the game, but unfortunately lost the series, and id end up having gone to the very last game in the O-Rena before they tore it down to open the new arena.

To this day, its been my greatest moment as a sports fan, and my best birthday yet.

I too have had a bad history of birthdays. I think my best one was probably my 6th birthday when I was in Kindergarten and my whole class had a party. After thatI can't really think of another good memories. There were years where I got presents, but it was usually ruined by my mom dragging me to her boyfriend's house and then preceding to get into arguments each year with instead instead of trying to make the day special. In recent years, I've stopped putting as much importance on it mainly since I was always off from school when I was in high school, but everyone else worked til late so I usually spent the day alone. And now, since my birthday is a month after Christmas, people have decided to get me one gift that counts for both occasions. This year, my brother made plans with his girlfriend and decided to drag me along at the last minute, which showed that no one really wanted to make my day feel special anymore.

but I've learned that the only way you get a bad birthday is to give it too much importance and have high expectations, so now I don't care anymore. It's just another day reminding me of how I'm getting older.

Best:

For my 18th birthday a group of my friends and I took a couple of vehicles and went on a road trip and we stayed in a cottage up North. We went to the beach alot, played a bunch of drinking games and went to a strip club in Quebec. :awesome:

Worst:

Having to go to my fathers funeral.

In all honesty I dont really remember that many of my birthdays

My birthdays up until I was 10-11 were always good. My parents invited all my friends over to a house party or something catered at a local fast food place.

Through, jr. high til college they were a little muted. No one ever forgot my birthday, I got gifts. I think the most memorable time during that period would be 17 when I got my license. We went out to eat after that.

In college, it was when I went to my first strip club and the first time I "legally" got toasted. It was more fun just being with friends that night but seeing half naked women helped.

Since college and when I started working, I always took my birthday off and being with someone who always did something on her birthday, she always wanted to do something for my birthday.

Go into the City, or go away on Vacation. I think one of more favorite ones was in 2009, when I went over my friend's house and the Yankees won the World Series.

I was about eight or so when I had a Ghostbuster themed birthday party. My dad drew a huge Slimer picture and we played pin the apple in his mouth.

My 18th. I spent all day with my girlfriend, and we went to London. We went to Forbidden Planet, where I bought lots of toys and comics, before going to the Doctor Who Experience, where I bought more toys, and got some for free :woot:. After that, we went to TGIFridays where I had a nice steak and a big piece of chocolate cake. That was an awesome day

Never been kissed on lips on b-day, so b-days suck. And mentally, I'm tired of the sane things. B-day always with family. Tiring. I may cancel for real this time. That or have Little Casers Pizza(don't judge, I like the Pizza...it's eatable

Hard to say. From 14-22, I spent my birthdays either studying, working, or in a ring/dojo.

I can't seem to remember alot of my childhood but I think when I turned 7 I got a party with cake. I'll go with that one.

I will say, as much as I don't like or feel comfortable at parties, I would like to have someone throw me a surprise party at some point in my life.

I recall going to the movies as a birthday present. One of my early birthdays having seen Godzilla and Mission: Impossible II in theaters. Then years later, it was topped when I saw Spider-Man, The Punisher 2004 (this being with my father and also being one of my first R rated films to see in theaters), Hot Fuzz, and KOTCS.

22nd bday...First with my gf

24th bday...gf gets me a custom 2009 World Series ring. I am left speechless

Thanks for the stories everyone!

My best birthday was my 17th. Mum let me have a load of people around just chilling and listening to music in my garden, got the straighteners out and did my hippe mates long hair, drank a bit. My mum was embarrasing me by dancing to rolling stones in the living room so everyone who went to the loo came out giggling at her :D

My best friend brought alone a new friend she'd made who had the same birthday as me. We exchanged cards for a laugh, and we ended up getting a long really well.

Went to the pub later and got really tipsy and decided it'd be fun to tie each other together. Proceeded to have a laugh attempting to play pool and even go to the loo together :p He ended up asking me out later that night.

I also remember getting ridiculously over excited because everyone bought me Superman stuff. My friend even suprised me with an autograph from John Shea (Lex Luthor from Lois and Clark), because he'd visited my town a few weeks before and his brother had been the chef at the place he'd had dinner! :)

My best birthday ever was last year's (2010) when I turned 27.

That sounds so amazing! :D I love moments like that, when it really feels like dreams can come true :)

:hehe:

Well that's what I tried last year, and it was really nice in a way because there was no pressure.

My best friend was staying with me, and we went out the night before for a couple of drinks, saw a couple of people... and then got to midnight, chinked glasses and sort of went 'shall we just go home'. We spent the whole of my birthday having a Star Wars marathon (during which I fell asleep 3 times lol). It was just nice to spend it with someone whose company I actually enjoyed, doing something simple.

I'd just like to do something a bit more special this year.

Had a bit of a bad time lately, and would really like one of those days where you remember why you love your friends and family, and why life can be fun.

Hard to manipulate that into happening tho isn't it?

Usually, its been my brother who has done the most for me on my birthday, but i remember one year I ended up treating him to the movies on my birthday. We saw Cloverfield and Rambo on the same night, which is actually the only time I've ever seen two movies in one night. I remember I nearly threw up towards the end of Cloverfield because of the shaky camera.

24th bday...gf gets me a custom 2009 World Series ring. I am left speechless
Sounds like a keeper.

I don't really fancy celebrating birthdays anymore. Yeah back when I was a kid we had a small party with a couple of my friends in NY and my aunts, uncles, and cousins but that was about it. Last birthday party I had was my 13th birthday where we went and played laser tag.

When I was a young boy, my father took me into the city to see a marching band.

My best was for my 30th. A party I threw. I rented out a section of a nightclub in Paris and invited about 24 friends. Everybody arrived for an apéro around 8:30 with champagne and canapees. I had three tables set up for dinner and gave all the guests a gift. After dinner we danced aound with quite a few bottles of alcohol being drunk. I hooked up with the girl I wanted and I had a very good time.

The only downside was some of tghe people who cam thanked my parents whereas I paid for it all myself with money I had earned working as an investment banker.

My best birthday was when I turned 15 and watched The Dark Knight for the first time. The whole part of the day sucked until I watched it. Maybe you should just watch an amazing movie :p
