‘What We Do in The Shadows’ Series Lands at FX With Pilot Production Commitment
The long-rumored “What We Do in the Shadows” series is moving forward at FX with a pilot production commitment, Variety has learned.

Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi–the stars, writers, and directors of the 2014 film–will serve as executive producers, with Clement serving as writer and Waititi serving as director. Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush will also executive produce. FX Productions will produce.

Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen are set to star in the half-hour series. The exact details of the plot are being kept under wraps, but Waititi previously said the show would be set in the United States rather than New Zealand, per Fandango. The original film is a mockumentary about a group of vampires named Viago, Vladislav, Deacon, and Petyr living in the city of Wellington.

Premieres March 27. Can't wait.

I enjoyed the movie and this seems like the perfect fit for a channel like FX. Hopefully, it ends up being great.

Right now it’s at 100% on RT.
Critic Consensus: Delightfully absurd and ridiculously fun, What We Do in the Shadows expands on the film's vampiric lore and finds fresh perspective in its charming, off-kilter cast to create a mockumentary series worth sinking your teeth into.

Yaaaaaas, I loved the movie. I've seen it many many times.

Just saw the film for the first time, and I loved it!

Really excited for the show to expand upon this world!

I'll have to watch this after the fact since it airs at the same time as both Happy and You're the Worst, but glad it's been doing very well critically.

I would really like to watch it but i don't have the channel... so i gotta wait and figure out a way.

I didn't even know about the movie until i learned Taika was doing a tv show based off the movie...

So I watched the movie to see what the hype was about and now i'm excited to see the TV show. I love when talented directors become mainstream.

Watching it now. It's okay, but I wonder if over time it's sort of humor will grate instead of amuse.

I really want to like this show, but it just feels like a pail imitation of the movie for me. None of the rehashed jokes are really hitting because I've seen them done much better in the film. The new vampires also aren't as likable as the movie versions.

A part of me wishes the movie never existed so I'd be able to judge this show strictly on its own merits. It's just lackluster, otherwise.

I loved it. I think the idea is early on we will see similar jokes, but it will branch out. I love the crew of vampires and the new familiar. I can kind of see where the dynamic is going, and that excites me.

Loved it as well. Had no idea that was Doug Jones until the credits came up.

Also loved this! Can't wait for more episodes!

Colin, Lazlo, and Nadja were my favourite characters, but all the characters are great so far!

I'm in love with this show....funny as hell

Loved the first episode! I've not seen the movie so, this is all new to me.
You gotta watch the movie. It's really funny.

I saw the first episode and thought it was good. I'd probably rate it as a 7.5 out of 10.
Nandor and Nadja where my favorite characters. She is so weird, creepy and hilarious. There was one particular scene that cracked me up... the whole "Gregor" thing.

Been catching up on the show and it's fantastic. Loving the Bram Stoker references.
