The Avengers What were your favorite scenes/moments? Obviously spoiler galore.

My favorite scene had to be the action sequence right before hulk punched thor. The way it went from one chracter to the next was so smooth and unique. That is how i always imagined a cbm and it was just perfect. That scene alone will prolly get me to go see the movie for a fifth time because i doubt i can wait til the blu ray comes out to see it again.

I think I said before, but after seeing it again last night that tracking shot from one hero to the next I think is by far one of the most beautifully done, most intelligently crafted shots in a movie I've ever seen. I can't even imagine the amount of planning and detail that went into that one shot.

and the circling shot, its so much more breathtaking with that score behind it.

actually I love when Iron Man is about to fly the nuke into the portal, the conversation between Cap and Iron Man "You know that's a one way trip" and Jarvis ringing Pepper but there's no answer, and everyone waiting for him to come flying back through the portal. Such a heartfelt moment. They really shouldn't have ruined Hulk saving him in the TV spots as it would have had a bigger emotional pull i think as you dont know if he survives or not, then BAM Hulk catches him.

I haven't seen this mentioned...and I've read and looked...

During the scene with Thor and Loki on the mountain top, two crows fly arc past them. Why? Because they are Huggin and Munnin, Odin's eyes in Midgard. :woot:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huginn_and_Muninn

It's been mentioned.

Exactly, such a small yet awesome moment. Did you also notice the two ravens (supposedly Huginn and Muninn) that flew by as Thor and Loki were arguing on the mountain? So badass!

I didn't notice the ravens. Coolness! I always found them cool in the myths. Do they do anything special in the comics?

So many favorite scenes!

- Loved the Helicarrier lift off (along with the score) and Banner goes "oh no, this is MUCH worse!"
- Stark's "Phil? His name is Agent!" and the exchange that follows , including the juggling of the drinks and the tech.
- Loki getting pummeled by Hulk
- Hawkeye shooting at a target whilst mid-conversation with others and not even looking that way.
- Hawkeye leaping off a building (shout out to the Ultimate Hawkeye comic)
- Banner's "I'm sorry, that was mean"
- Stark's "Clench up, Legolas"
- Thor and Iron Man fight, joined by the Cap, and the "Are we done here?" after they level the whole forest
- Loki's "mewling quim" comment (surprised that made it through the censors, but cool)
- Stark asking Banner what was his secret, "Bongo drums, huge bag of weed?"
- Cap's suit up fetish towards Stark
- Hawkeye's trick arrow getting caught by Loki, only to blow him into Stark's building , which lead to the epic Hulk mauling.
- Caulson's "I watched you sleep" comment and the awkward scene that follows
- Caulson being "on hold" as BW beat the crap out of the guys on the other end of the line
- Stark and Banner exchanging some scientific stuff, Stark going "Finally someone who speaks English" and Cap goes "so thats what that was!"
- BW mindf***ing Loki, that scene was nicely shot.
- Hulk punching Thor for no reason, without even looking that way.
- Thor's "He's adopted?" line
- the whole fight at the very end was really well executed
- tracking shot of the whole team as they assembled with weapons armed.
- Cap's "Son, don't even start!"
- the group shot where they're all against Loki as he struggles up, followed by "if it's all the same, I'd like to have that drink now".
- Loki grinning up as Hulk's unleashed not he Helicarrier
- Hulk and Thor fight, with Hulk unable to pick up Mjolnir.
- Stark's "Reindeer games" comment

Never a dull moment with that movie, TBH. It's very hard to narrow down to just a couple of fave moments.

Anyone get even the slightest chuckle over the 'cognitive recalibration' line. I thought it was quite funny, in a subtle way.

haha! Yeah. then goes on to elaborate " i hit you really hard over the head"

Plus there was the "Reverse the polarity" line Iron Man used. taking the piss at Trek?

when Cap said "you know thats a one way trip", wat did Stark reply?

*Thor walks towards Loki, hammer ready*

"Now listen here brother."

*Enter Iron Man, WHUMPH! takes Thor out of frame*

*Loki leans in close*

"I'm listening?"

Pretty sure this has been mentioned:

When Hulk is on the plane and the pilot ejects.....thats one of those moments when people just shout "oh *****!!"

Howzat? I seem to recall Joss making a comment about the ridiculesness of Trek tech speak at some point. Especially the whole "reverse the polarity" thing, which seemed to have been the staple fix of pretty much everything technical.

If they re-release this movie in theaters, they should put together a post-credit cut of all the deleted scenes. At least the ones that were finished. Im guessing they save it for the Blu-ray tho.

I think showing Thor in the act of flying is very difficult, effects-wise. It was rather minimal in TA and non existent in the Thor movie. Landing and taking off sure, but very little of him flying/hovering in midair. Just a theory.

I forgot about his "arrival" in Manhattan. Very cool. Isn't it amazing how much cool stuff you missed or sort of glazed over during the first viewing, mainly because it was surrounded by OTHER cool stuff? The dialog alone is mindboggling.

Just out of my 4th (and likely final) theatrical viewing and picked up on a few things:

1. After Hulk "smashed" Loki and his calls him a puny god, when they cut back to Loki on the ground he's actually letting out a very strained 'groan' the whole time. Never picked up on that the first 3 times because the audience is still laughing. This was an afternoon show with a group of maybe 12-15 people in a huge theater.

2. Right before the epic team circle shot, I never noticed the Chutari soldier taking off his mask and staring at the Avengers.

One of my favorite bits. Loki is awesome. He just takes everything in stride. Like when Thor charges the illusion.
"Are you never going to stop falling for that?"

When I think about it, it's really hard for me to pick a favorite scene. There were too many to choose from.

Stark: "Loki...he's a full-tilt diva. He wants flowers, he wants parades, he wants a monument built to the sky with his name plastered.....(pauses) son of a *****".

That was hilarious! as was the part where The Cap goes "oh that big ugly..." the look Stark gives him was gold.

I think he said "Are you ever not going to fall for that?" A lot of the scenes with Loki were great, even the ones where it's just a cut to him raising his head and grinning.

This is why people watch it multiple times, first time you watch, you watch for the plot, second time and onwards , you're catching stuff you missed. This is one of the reasons I'm not a huge fan of movie reviews in general, because you don't always get everything from the first viewing (at least when the movie is THAT good). And IMO, not being a fan of movies in general, in theaters anyway (because they censor most of stuff here, and it ends up cut up into pieces, they didn't with the Avengers, which was cool, even the "mewling quim" made it in! Guess they have no idea what that is), I was, at first surprised I wanted to go see it again, but i thoroughly enjoyed the 4 viewings I've had so far.

THIS!

I thought reverse the polarity had a life beyond Trek, sort of like the Wilhelm scream. That it had become just "generic tech talk" that is worked into lots of movies.

EDIT: I was right, pretty much:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ReversePolarity

Ah. My bad. it's just been so overused in Trek. Any kind of tech problem can be solved by reversing the polarity.

Might not be my favorite, but I really really enjoyed the whole Turbine Helicarrier sequence with IM, Cap and the controlled agents. Plus the "It appears to run on some sort of electricity" line makes me laugh everytime.
