Ps. Why does he squat like he is about to dump a lincoln log just before he flies. "URHHHHHH" Take that you giant log" Uhn!

Its called squash and stretch. In animation you have a character go backwards before they go forwards, it adds impact to what they are doing.

For example before a character runs off scene they swing their arms back and they turn slightly to the opposite direction of where they are going.
Then BOOM the blast off.
It makes the action stronger.

As far as Martian Manhunter's forhead, I agree. But if they just give him a caveman brow that might work. But It is probably best if they don't.

and as for Batman, he is a human and there is very (to no) variations they can do to him other than his clothes or a possible costume. But he is also not a character that is definatly going to be on Smallville.
Martian Manhunter is, and he has the ability to change shape. Plus, his form in the comics poses a problem for the show. how do they show him and not make it look silly. (like Martian Manhunter in the horrible TV movie)
So I was wondering what you guys expected.

I am sorry. I know he is a shapechanger etc. I know that batman is a human. I am aware of animation. I guess I thought I would add some levity but obviously I was not subtle enough. I was more trying to make the point that they always step sideways with characters on SV.:yay:

I think I'll start calling him "Martian Manmember"...that PC enough for you?? :D

Forget about it.

I don't mind the levity, I just thought you really wanted to know and I was more than happy to help out.
I agree that they take characters everyone wants to see and then...oh wait no, they don't end up like you hope they look. Not like the comic, and not the way you would have excepted.

I was just mentioning the shapeshifter stuff for anyone who was wondering why I was asking what he might look like when he already has a design in the comic.

I think that was his name in a porno that was supposed to be based off the JLA :D

I think in the spirit of having the other heroes come to clark wearing vage or obscure versions of there costumes in at least some small form, MM should be no different. Have him as a bald male (which could cause some discusion abut him looking like lex and in turn could be a humorus advantage) wearing a leather jacket with a large red X type of pattern going across the chest nd back. During the time when hispowers are revealed his skin can change colors and eyes will glow. I think the two of them could have some realy cool interaction. :)

My apologies to you as well. I am new to the SHH boards and I never know how much information to put in a post. I tend to use too many words and then raise four points instead of making one.

I appreciate the comments following mine and am glad that it is a shared feeling that SV always screws around with our heads. First Aquaman ... sort of ... then Green arrow. This is another example to me.

Enjoying the shared anticipation. :yay:

I understand why they do it though, like with the X-Men movies it is hard to bring comic characters to life and make them seem realistic and not silly. I mean can you imagin what Wolverine would be like in real life with yellow spandex and blue underwear? I mean I might think it would be cool, but the regular audiance and some fans might not get it. And it might come off as campy like the old Batman tv show.
So they try to adjust the character for real life, with a character like Martian Manhunter it is escpecially hard.

I liked how they dealt with Flash, the first guest, the best. He was like Clark, still finding who he was. But now they are bringing them in as actual heroes with sort of costumes. Its different.

I like this idea alot, especially the description of his costume and the idea that when he uses his powers his skin flashes green and his eyes glow red. Even if they only did that for the first few seconds of him using his powers, that would be cool.

ComicsContinuum.com has some huge news regarding casting. Click on the link below - SPOILERS AHEAD:

He could be cool, I was hoping it was Carl Lumbly. He was the voice of Martian Manhunter on Justice League, for those who don't know. His voice is awesome.

I don't mind if it gets merged at all, but this is sort of a different topic. Its not who should play him. It is what will he be designed to look like? What will his costume and make up look like?
Plus the actor has already been chosen.

While I still like my suit and tie idea, I am thinking that this is more likely what he will look like if he has a costume at all.

Does anyone want to see him change into his true alien form, meaning the skinny alien with the pointy head, on the show? Even if they just show it once, or would you settle or be fine with them just showing him with green skin for a few seconds?

No I mean one is about who will play him, the other is about character design and visual development.
