What's the best fairly affordable HDTV on the market?

I got a Samsung that's having issues with powering itself off and on. I looked it up and see that it's been a problem with Samsung TVs for a while now (bought mine a few years ago, so the warranty is over, and I just started having issues with it this year).

So, I'm in the market for a new HDTV. Looking for at least 48" in the $400-$500 price range.

How is the Sony Bravia? Any issues with that brand?

Sony's are good my last tv was a 32 720p LCD Bravia was bullet proof from when I got it in 2008 to when I sold it to a co worker in 2013 and he is still using it and has had zero issues. I have a 9 month old Samsung LED that I am shopping around to upgrade to a bigger set and I have been torn between A: another Sammy, B: a Sony, or C: a Vizio.
