Someone had to bring up the debate. One of my friends just finished Bioshock Infinite. He's a huge gamer, and he said it was without a doubt it was the best game of this gaming generation. Now I haven't played it yet, but it got me thinking.

With this being the longest generation ever, what are the absolute best games this generation in everyone's opinion?

And screw making it easy, let's make this difficult (okay, but not too difficult). You can rank a top 10, but no ties.

To me, here it is:

1. Mass Effect 2
2. Bioshock
3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
4. Mass Effect
5. Elder Scroll IV: Skyrim
6. Halo 4
7. Grand Theft Auto IV
8. Uncharted 2
9. Guitar hero II (I'm serious haha. I loved this game back at that time and still play from time to time.)
10. Portal

I think Portal may end up getting bumped for GTA V though. :funny:

And the discussion begins....

I've got a top 5

1. Red Dead Redemption
2. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
3. Halo 4
4. Skyrim
5. Super Mario Galaxy 2

Top 25:

  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Binary Domain
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Castle Crashers
  • Darksiders
  • Dark Souls
  • Dead Rising
  • Demon's Souls
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • Dragon Age: Origins
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

  • Rayman Origins
  • Saints Row: The Third
  • Super Meat Boy
  • Vanquish
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II

Tomb Raider (2013)
Other goodies can fight for second place
Dead Rising 2 is nowhere near a contender for 30th rank =p

1. Fallout 3
2. Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes
3. GTA IV
4. Fallout New Vegas
5. Skyrim
6. Arkham City

Bioshock Infinite
Arkham City
Red Dead
Assassins Creed 2

Arkham city
Skyrim
Far cry 3
Battlefield 3
Bad company 2
Just cause 2

Viva piñata 2( just because it's so different and I love the whole design of it)

In no order, and I'm probably missing some great ones that I've played

Single-player - Red Dead Redemption

Multiplayer - Battlefield: Bad Company 2

I think Red Dead Redemption was prob the crowning achievement this generation, altho that could change when GTA V drops.

My favorite game(s) this gen would have to be a tie between the Uncharted games and the Batman: Arkham series.

Dark Souls, followed distantly by Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

for me the best games of this (xbox360/ps3/wii) era are..
uncharted series
mario galaxy 2

Infamous 2 (i loved this game!)
Sonic generations/Sonic Colors (i love these games regardless to what others may think!)

Multiplayer games -
Black ops 2

In no particular order:

Uncharted Series
Bioshock Series

Mass Effect 2 & 3
Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim
Dead Space series

1. FallOut 3

No way I'd be able to say a top game, but here are 10 of my favorite;

Bioshock - Just loved the enviroment, story, combat, control, everything in this game just clicks, Bioshock 2 and Infinite were great as well, but they just built upon the foundation this game laid.

Batman Arkham City - A game that builds on the foundation, but also expands it and really blew out the ideas and foundation that was laid.

Assassin's Creed 2 - Took the originals basic premise and fixed everything that didn't click in the first, giving the player a much better experience. Love this franchise and still think this is the peak of it.

Super Mario Galaxy - It's Mario, what's not to like, while Galaxy 2 might have been considered better, it was really just another verison of the same game, but that that's a bad thing.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Yeah, it's technically a GameCube game, but I got it on the Wii, loved it from beginning to end. Skyword Sword may be better, but a year later and I still haven't played it that much, just feels way too slow.

Shadow Complex - Just a great 2D adventure game. I want more Metroid/Vania games like this.

Call of Duty 4 - On here for the hours upon hours of mulitplayer I played. I may have sucked at those mulitplayer matches, but they were still a whole lot of fun

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 2D Mario, so glad 2D games reemerged this gen, the genre is great.

Gears of War 2 - If for nothing else than Horde, love Horde mode.

'Splosion Man - Another 2D platformer and one the is just bursting with hilarity, just had a huge grin on while playing this game, so fun, but also challenging.

Batman Arkham Asylum & City
Infamous 2
Uncharted 1-3
Red Dead Redemption
Mass Effect 2 & 3
God of War 3
Assassins Creed 2-3

The Batman: Arkham games, and Sonic Generations, IMO.

The Uncharted, inFamous series look pretty good, but I've never played them.

Batman - Arkham Asylum & Arkham City

Uncharted series

Transformers : War & Fall of Cybertron

Assassins Creed Series

Mass Effect series

Ok if I had to pick a Best singular game from my original list it would be...

Batman Arkham City
