The Dark Knight What's the Big deal with Schrieber?

ANTHONYNASTI said:
Yeah. Schreiber / Bettany or bust.

Don't ruin the sequel for yourselfs fellows, keep an open mind. I think Nolan has established that he knows what he's doing.

I agree. Sure we all have our casting favorites, but at the end of the day as long as that person protrays the character right, that's all that matters.

Nolan is not my god.

I see him more as a divinely inspired priest.

I hope that quote is in BB2 it's like when Batman visits Gordon in his office and Batman says "You're good cop, one of the few" that was refence to Y1

Yeah, and "Dr. Crane isn't here right now, but if you'd like to make an appointment..." is straight out of Haunted Knight. I didn't realize that until I read Haunted Knight just a month or two ago.

so again...if walken gets cast, if johnney depp gets cast, if ed norton gets cast then its a bust?

what if nether of those get cast?

bust?

jude law is a bust? i couldn't disagree with you more

and fyi, pacino's 75 cop/gangster movies have shown almost zero range in his career..brilliant, yes...range no...

denzel, watch under seige, watch malcom x, watch the pelican brief, watch phillidelpha...he is the same guy...again, utterly brilliant...but he is the same...if you watch liev schrieber he is the same in every movie he is...and by no means is on the same level as the two before mentioned..

you may ask why is range so important? because of every aspect of Harvey Dent/ two face...he is literally Jekyl and Hide, you need an actor that has shown the capablitiy to turn from good guy, to insane evil guy with out morals, to an evil guy who gets his morals back...schrieber has not proven he can do this in any form of his acting career, that is why i am against this choice, again if he is nolans choice i am ready to roll with it because i trust in nolans vision of gotham and it's inhabitents, but i am definatly agianst it..

if you honestly in your heart believ that schrieber's resume of the screams, sum of all fears and manchurian candidate is better then equilibrium, american psycho, and the machinest compare, then good for you..

you obviously aren't a walken fan if you believe he is the same person in the deer hunter, as in weddding crashers, as in prophecy, as in cath me if you can, as in man on fire, as in the dead zone, as in a veiw to a kill, i do not think your choice in walken is credible if you think that of his performences, he is one of my favorites and those movies on top of others is, he is fantastic performer who does his homework and gets into character as well as any actor out there, he is not getting his due because of his recent comedy exploits (which have been fantastic) but he has been the same kinda guy in many of his comedies because he is naturally a funny guy...he has range, if you wish you can post your top 100 at your own risk...i would actually rather see a top 10 with reasons because lists are lists, but lists with explanation gives me a veiw into what kind of critque you actually are..

If you think his characters in Serpico, Sacrface, The Godfather, and Dog Day Afternoon are the same, you have a problem.

Yes he has. He did it in Manchurian Candidate

I've come to the point where I just cant, and dont want to, see anyone else in the role of Dent. I can just imagine him in a scene with Batman and Gordon, saying his famous line, "Two shots to the head, if you ask me it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy."

YES x1000.

Is Manchurican Cadidate any good as a reference as to what Liev could do as Harey Dent in the sequal? I might rent this bad boy out...

well from what ive seen of him, i think hes a good actor. he looks like harvey dent in long halloween (which is his origin/ best depiction) and i think he can pull off both personalities well. and hes not an actor who will steal the spotlight from Christian Bale. thats what i liked about the cast in Begins. yea you knew all the actors, but they werent the "A list" stars you see in the tabloids everyday and see cast in every summer-blockbuster movie. hes certainly gained enough credit to where people would recognize him but it wont turn into a situation like Jack Nicholson's name coming before Michael Keaton's in the credits.

Okay - people.....NOLAN IS HUMAN! Nolan can make mistakes - he casted Katie Holmes, nuff said. Sorry but I will be disapointed if Bettany does not get the role, I will still see BB2 - I will still love BB2 - but I will still keep asking myself "What If" if Bettany does not get the role (unless Hulme or whoever gets it completely blows me away).

I can say with a straight face that I would rank Paul Bettany among those actors in my book, so yes: Bettany or Bust.

Tim Daly...that's interesting. The guy is a solid actor despite not seeming to get any work.

Walken won't even have his name mentioned for anything since he was in Batman Returns. Depp's way too big a name. Norton would make a better Riddler.

And you criticize Pacino and Denzel for being the same in every movie and then say Jude Law would be good for Dent. Please excuse me while I go into a corner and laugh at the rediculousness of that very idea.

Yeah I can't say I' mexcatly a connosseur of his work, but what I've seen I think he's good. Plus he's got that good looking hot shot thing cold and I think he could make a pretty interesting heartless bastard as well.

Someone asked for this in here, somewhere.

Striking resemblence. Simply incredible. He was great in that film.
No doubt... HE IS DENT!!!

What if Bettany, Shrieber, et al decline the role?

And it might be me, but I don't think he looks all that much like the Dent photo he's pasted next to. There are glaring differences in jaw line, nose length & width, cheek bones and mouth. Which kinda of makes up most of the face.

Exactly. Whoever gets the part, I trust Nolan will make the right decision. And don´t forget guys, sometimes it´s not just up to the director. Sometimes the actor declines the role for some reason, sometimes the schedules clash, sometimes there´s a sickness or accident - remember how Sean Young lost the Vicki Vale part cuz of a horse accident? - so try to keep an open mind and don´t get too attached to a name before they get the part... I had to prepare my mind at one point to Bale not being Batman... But thank God the stars aligned properly.
