What's The Deal with The Fifth Element? [/Seinfeld]

I got around to finally watching it recently as well after being told that it's "like Blade Runner".

No the **** it isn't like Blade Runner. You see, Blade Runner is actually good.
I liked The Fifth Element more than Blade Runner. BR is a shallow and choppy adaptation of the book, which is better than both TFE and BR by miles.

I'm sure Aesop started this thread thinking people would agree with him. :funny:

Yeah, like a few of you have agreed with him. I'd say a majority of us liked the movie.

The Fifth Element is one of the best and most fun sci fi movie ever made.

I saw the movie in the theaters thinking it would suck, but it's one of my favorite movies. Just love the crazy world these characters inhabit, plus the characters themselves are awesome. To me, everything about the movie works perfectly. Not to mention it's got some awesomely edited scenes where two or three people are talking about either the same or entirely different things and it's perfectly cut together. Like Leelu and Gary Oldman talking about the stones not being in the crate, the ship blasted off while Chris Tucker is pleasuring the flight attendant and Leelu fighting while the Diva is singing. I was going to quote Celticpred's clip as being a favorite scene and it is, but not nearly the only one, it's easily one of those movies where you just want to wait to see the next awesome scene and before you know it the movie is over.

And most have disagreed...good movie.

And that proves... what exactly?

Majorities have seen Transformers 2 and granted us a sequel. Big deal.

Just a few.

You said that "people" wouldn't agree with Aesop. Inaccurate. People who have agreed with him are still people, see?

i will ignore this thread as well

Will you? Or do you actually enjoy being this thread's hater?

That I disagree with you...just as your post that I quoted and answered that you just quoted and answered was you agreeing with Aesope and disagreeing with me and the others who also disagreed with Aesope....

Majorities have seen Transformers 2 and granted us a sequel. Big deal.
So? I didn't like Transformers 2.

Well...I have to give you that one...if anyone knows anything about being an annoying character...you are the guy to check out.

Yep....you're the only one.

I absolutely love this movie. It's freaking hilarious.
One quote sums it all up:

"Are you classified as human?"
"Negative, I am a meat popsicle."

:hehe:

Chris Tucker's Ruby Rhod is at once annoying and hilarious, but it's a fun romp.

movies are subjective, its ok. if everyone liked the same thing we would have only one genre of movie. the thread just wants to know what is so good about the movie, its been answered so arguing about someone's taste is pointless. i myself don't like bladerunner it makes me fall asleep, has some cool shots but overall its boring.

I think it's an OK movie, but not something I'd watch more than once. Chris Tucker is annoying as hell, for one.

It's ok. I'd rank it along with Total Recall as a good film that slightly misses the mark for my taste in sci fi.

The Fifth Element is a TERRIBLE movie. Just awful. From the television show lighting, to the horrible fight sequences/choreography, to the pathetic attempts at acting by everyone not named Gary Oldman, to the nonsensical storyline, and the most annoying comic relief character this side of Jar-Jar Binks, I can't believe this movie was ever made, let alone has a following. It's almost like you're watching a parody of sci-fi movies. I might give it a D- on a day that I'm feeling really nice.

Chris Tucker and Bruce Willis combo was teh awesomeness. I don't care what anyone says.

Love this movie, I'm sorry you didn't get it. Not supposed to be taken all that seriously, its a fun and original movie!

I'm honestly surprised when I hear people say Blade Runner was boring. First time I saw it, I didn't even care about how "deep" or "thought-provoking" it was, I was too young for all that, I just enjoyed it because I found it entertaining.

I actually haven't seen Blade Runner, I was just being a dick.

I don't like it either. It was boring & felt way too fast paced.
