That's a good review you wrote, if you have time you should watch Kubrick's adaptation, far from his greatest works but it's good nevertheless. :)

Thanks! yeah its on my list to see, plus Peter Sellers is always win.

I also enjoyed this book very much. I recently finished Dune: House Atreides by Brian Herbert. It has some interesting elements, but doesn't quite compare to the Frank Herbert novels I've read.

How are his books by and large? I am hesitant to read his Dune novels when I finish 1-6.

This is the first book from Brian that I've read so far, although I did pick up Winds of Dune on audiobook awhile back...but never finished it. House Atreides is enjoyable, but superficial, standard sci-fi that mainly held my interest only because of the familiar characters and themes that were carried over from the Frank Herbert books.

The Deathly Hallows... I wanted to know what happened before I see the movie :whatever:

  1. The Hours
  2. Money
  3. Native Son
  4. Good Omens
  5. Miss Lonelyhearts
  6. The Day of the Locusts
  7. Housekeeping
  8. Winter's Bone
  9. The Corrections
  10. The Sound & the Fury
  11. Play It As It Lays
  12. The Crying of Lot 49
  13. Appointment in Samara
  14. Under the Net
  15. A Handful of Dust
  16. White Teeth
  17. Ragtime
  18. The Bridge of San Luis Rey
  19. Batman: Arkham Asylum
  20. Kingdom Come
  21. Batman: Faces
  22. Daredevil: The Man Without Fear
  23. Spider-Man vs Venom

Whew! That should be everything I've read since my last posting in here in March '10. Currently reading The Confessions of Nat Turner.

Definitely! It's always a good read, even 15 years later. I can't believe it's been that long... I remember it like yesterday ;)

Man Without Fear is great too... Haven't read that one in ages. I used to have a HC but I think it was borrowed and never returned

Ugh. I hate that ****. If you're going to borrow my stuff, then give it back to me.

yeah I've not seen the book in about 10 years... I don't even remember who borrowed it now. I haven't learned though, I still let people borrow my graphic novels... i guess out of love for the material? ;)

Or you just never learned your lesson the first time around :P

well I do have my "babies"... the HC version of Kingdom Come in the slipcase... the original HC version of Miller's Dark Knight... stuff like that I cherish a bit and they only get read by me. I also adore "BoNe" by Jeff Smith. What a great series that was!

Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card
A real page-turner, poignant and a more complex and mature novel than "Ender's Game" and following that OSC's writing it's different too, which I'm impressed. The book speaks to the core of humanity within us all and I consider OSC is a one of the best sci-fi author.

5/5

The Confession by John Grisham

Wastelands: Stories of the Apocalypse

Several good stories I liked, others I skipped over.

The Fall by Guillermo del Toro & Chuck Hogan

The book is exciting and I loved the fresh take on the vampire mythology.
The story is thrilling and pacing was wonderful, it was a very compelling read for me.
It took everything that made The Strain great and improve it.

Yeah, awesome books, I just love what Del Toro's done with vampires. I can't wait for the third

Excellent! I was helping at the Unity signing when Del Toro was still here in town. There was hardly anyone there... very strange.

Man, I would've been the first in line. Between Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, and The Strain Trilogy, he's one of my favorite directors.

The Death of Superman (Dear god dialogue in the 90's was bad and went on and on and on and on. If I ever have to read Bibbo Bibbowski ever again I will kill a kitten)

Green Lantern Recharge (read this in the gym, thought I had left the last issue in a cubby hole over night, someone found it and put it on the magazine rack and I got it back. :D)

Green Lantern series Vol. 4. ( I read till the end of Blackest Night. Did you know that Hal Jordan introduces himself in almost ever single issue.)
