The way I always heard, though we believe astrology is true, this only applies to the Astrology practiced by the ancients and modern Astrology is nonsense. this is Mainly because in real astrology, the signs of the zodiac are based on the Hebrew(Lunar) months (not when the sun actually falls in the calendar)......so according to the "Old" system of modern Astrology (and most of the so-called astrologers say that one's sign didn't change )someone born on April 1 1992, would be an Aries while the "ancient" (True) system he would be a Pisces (Dagim) as his birthday would be in Adar II (also Pisces would last 60 days that year). This means that modern astrology is nonsense and superstition, which is strictly forbidden by Orthodox Judaism.
In Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, the shortened version of Orthodox Jewish law (written in the 1800s), it says (ch. 166):
"It is written [in the Torah] 'Neither shall you use enchantment nor observe times'......What is meant by 'observe times'? One who believes in Astrology...."
