What's Your Pod?

Now that I don't ride the bus I haven't listened to podcasts in awhile but I was big on the following:

Nerdist (this was always my go-to, great stuff for a wide variety of things I like)

Infinite Monkey Cage (Science and comedians talking about different science subjects)

How Did This Get Made (comedians rip apart crappy movies piece by piece, they actually give you a heads up before they release the podcast so you can watch the film if you want too. They all watch it separately and take notes for the podcast) [side note: they're podcast on Affleck's Daredevil w/ Mark Waid was one of the best CBM related things I've ever listened to]

Handsome Rambler (Hannibel Burress' podcast, one of my fave comedians)

The Monday Morning Podcast (Bill Burr's, another fave comedian of mine)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Science/Space
Star-Talk with Neil Degrasse-Tyson
Nasa has 2 different podcast that I listen to as well

Fitness
Sigma Nutrition
Barbell Shrugged
As well a couple of swedish-speaking pods on the same topic

Comics/Other
Ismahawk's Hawktalk

That's pretty much it. I have a lot of time on my own at my work so I can listen to quite a lot during a workweek.

Considering that one half of the Podcast is Trans (and very vocal about it) and both are very Liberal which comes across in their podcast, you may not enjoy it.

I don't care if they're liberal and that one is trans as long as the content is good. I just don't want their politics preached at me when I'm trying to enjoy the pod about a comic that I like... especially if it's far/alt-left. I listened to one yesterday and Jay started to go that route but quickly pivoted back on topic so it didn't annoy me that much. I've downloaded five or six more episodes. We'll see by the end of those if their politics get in the way of the quality of their podcast.

I listened to this not too long ago and loved it. I need more Bill Burr in my life.

Bill is hands down my fave stand-up for the past few years. His podcast can be a bit hit or miss sometimes as it's not necessarily as tight as his stand-up sets but it's kind of to be expected with how much he puts out the podcast.

I did get to see him live out here in St. Pete a few months ago and it was one of the best comedy shows I've ever been to.

While their voices grate on my nerves, I'm getting used to Jay & Miles. That said, I've also just found another X-Men podcast called The Danger Room. I've downloaded the first few episodes and will be giving it a shot son.

Can someone recommend me some good podcasts about comic book movie news?

Yeah, that's about all of Jay & Miles that I can handle. Their presentation is so fake that it hurts. The first episode of The Danger Room was pretty good though, so that might be a suitable replacement. They were discussing X-Men 1 from the 60s and were cracking me up. Good stuff so far. I might read along with them to better enjoy those older issues. I've tried them before but just can't get into that era of comics.

I've also started listening to Andrew Klavan's podcast which is enjoyable if you're right-leaning politically. He's similar to Ben Shapiro (they work together I think) but is a little dorkier and from a Christian point of view rather than a Jewish point of view. He's an Episcopal I believe.

And while I've not listened to it yet, I've downloaded a few episodes of Dungeons and Randomness: A D&D Podcast. I've not played D&D in a while (being fairly new even then). I thought maybe I'd enjoy hearing others play. When I played it was with some family and friends, most of us not really knowing what we were doing. I was an angry Halfling who rode an Elephant everywhere and could throw down with the best of them. He was named Bugsby Took but went by Bugs Brawny. I have no idea what I was thinking.

If you're into true crime, Last Podcast on the Left is the best IMO. It's a comedy podcast and there's a lot (and I mean a lot) of juvenile humor that a good deal of people won't be on board for, but the research is top-notch. There are few podcasts out there that are as well-researched as this one.

Other good true crime podcasts:

My Favorite Murder
Casefiles
Unresolved

I never could get into true crime, but my wife loves it. I'll mention that pod to her. I'd imagine that she wouldn't be into juvenile humor, but then she loves the My Dad Wrote A Porno podcast... so who knows.

I used to listen to the Locked on Bengals pod but didn't like the guy who hosted it. Maybe I'll give the Lock on NFL Draft pod a shot. It might be redundant though after listening to Move the Sticks with Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah.

I was talking to my brother last night and he mentioned going to see Bill Burr right about the same time you did (he lives in Clearwater). Small world.

I've heard Adam Carolla a time or two on other podcasts and tended to like what he had to say. And Dan Bongino referenced Dennis Prager on yesterday's pod which made me think of your post. I'll have to give them both a shot.

I love Bill Burr and the MM podcast. I'd kill to see him live.

I knew I was forgetting something... Junkfood Cinema.

I love this podcast. They're extremely well watched viewers and I like that their podcast is celebratory of "bad" movies. There's enough snarky bad-movie podcasts out there. These guys genuinely love trashy movies and it's infectious.

I never listened to the podcasts but FootballGuys was to this day my favorite newsletter I ever subscribed to. And as far as I know, they don’t send them out anymore
