Joss Whedon, whose "Dollhouse" with Eliza Dushku premieres on Fox in January, tells MTV that while his proposed horror fantasy Goners is on the backburner at Universal, he is instead writing and producing Cabin in the Woods.

He co-wrote the project with "Buffy" alum and Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard. "It's genius, it's funny," Goddard said about the film. "It's got a harder and darker edge, but it's also got classic Whedon qualities. It'll rip your heart out and be heartfelt at the same time."

So what is it about? "There's a reason the title is so straightforward," Goddard added. "It’s its own sub-genre, the cabin in the woods, and this is sort of our take on it. It's fresh and new."

How does it sound delicious when we have no plot details? Love Whedon, but I like me to know some plot details.

I loved what Drew Goddard with Cloverfield. Can't wait to hear more.

'Cause it makes me want more info, it's a juicy morsel so far.

Joss Whedon has never steered me wrong. And with Goddard, this should be quite something.

Definitely seeing this. Ans Whedon's writing a comic to tie-in to it, so that should be pretty kickass as well....

This movie is coming out in April right?

I don't think I can take another delay.

Yes, it now has a distributor that's not on the verge of financial ruin and an exact release date: April 13th. It's gonna happen this time!

Too bad I read the script 2 years ago lol. Still going to be good though.

By the way, if they stick with the ending from the script, it's going to be the biggest WTF moment of 2012. Like, it made no sense.

at that poster.

Id say based on the poster alone, the movie looks to include some alternate reality devices.

Really can't wait for this, I have never been so hyped for a horror movie.

Looks like they're crossing into the Animus from Assassin's Creed. :D

I'm not feeling the trailer here. I like and occasionally love Whedon's work, but it's not giving that horror-comedy vibe I was hoping for.

Great cast and set pieces, though.
