Remember how Lionel said he'll collect on Lex. When do you think he will? And what will it be? Any thoughts.

Whatever it is, I'm sure when he does try to collect, he'll get killed for it.

Hrm.... They probably wont go this route, but i just thought, perhaps Lex will think that Lionel is behind Lana's 'death'. Believing that was the payback. That could lead to Lex murdering Lionel......

yay for brainstorming.

I wouldn't want Lionel murdered.

Nah... I just can't see it happening.

Love the way they whacked Lana... even though she's soo coming back next season, in one of those "Oh My God... She's Alive!" - type scenes. God, I hate these suspense-less scenarios, and overdone thematic elements.

I think killing Lionel is too easy what if Lex blackmails Lionel because he has some incriminating evidence on him. He tells Lionel to leave LuthorCorp and Metropolis or he'll broadcast the evidence then, faking Lionel's death and having his men keep an eye on Lionel so that he knows if he ever comes back.

I'm pretty sure that Lex will murder Lionel. The question is how and why.
I could easily see Lionel taking a bullet to protect Clark's secret and thus turning Lex even more to the darkside and against Clark. Or Lionel could just easily enrage Lex on his own. I think they already planted the seeds for that.
Remember in Phantom when Lex said that they're even and he wanted Lionel out of his life and Lionel said he would never get rid of him that easily ?
I think Lex will discover on his own that he will have to kill him to really get rid of him once and for all. I think that will happen either in the season finale or mid-season.

I don't think it'll be premeditated, but i do believe Lex will end up killing Lionel. It's the final step into Lex going darkside. He needs to complete the cycle. Afterall, before Lionel could become a MB, he killed his parents. It's vicious, the more we strive to be less like our parents, the more we become them. Same principle will likely apply to the Luthors.

He'll take Lex's firstborn! Oh, wait, that may already have happened... Sort of...

perfect answer

except where you typed Clark it should be Superman

smallville fails in this regard

And I guarantee the opening credits in the premiere will feature Kristen Kruek - blatantly screaming "GUESS WHAT? I'M NOT GONE!" and diffusing any sort of mystery, suprise, or tension from the entire plot.
