My guess is probably around $100M. I don't exactly see this being in the "comic-book movie" budget spectrum, featuring a budget of $200M, because it doesn't have that list of actors who (you know) demand hefty amounts of buck in their contracts. Plus, I wouldn't even be surprised if they made this film under $100M. I mean, look at 'District 9'. When I saw the trailer, I thought that it was going to be another $150M+ alien invasion movie. But, it turned out to be something else entirely and was made for only $30M. Anyhow, I expect this film to be a big surprise. I've been long expecting this film to be nominated for "Best Picture" and it looks like that may just come true this year with the hefty ten-nomination catagory.

this is not anywhere near 100mil...
Wow, buddy... You're quite weird. I mean, you post up here a question for somebody to give their opinion on, I give you my opinion. And, what do you gotta do? You feel the need to contradict me. I recommend that you don't bother doing that to nobody. If you've got a fact that you wanna place before the question mark. Go right ahead! However, don't make me look like an idiot just because I don't know every little fact about this movie. If that's your problem with my answer, then maybe you should've clarified certain facts in your question before asking anybody. Do you understand, Frosty?

thejon93 was actually really close to the actual number. The budget is $90 million.

Originally it was $80 mil but Jonze needed more money to meet the studios demands to mesh with his vision. In other words more money for the CGI as the studio wanted them to be more expressive to not scare away the kiddies.

^And because of that, production was longer than expected. I'm interested in seeing how big of a turnout it gets from the kids.

I see this gaining a bigger audience with the teen and 20 something crowd.

Hey! What do you know? :wow:

So do I. However, it's kinda sad (to me) in knowing that most parents will be too concerned to take their children to a movie like this. I personally think that it's important to expand their minds at an early age with a film like this; rather then taking them to a movie like 'Bayformers III: Attack of the Burgicons'.

^^^^ No kidding.. this is really gonna be something special, and yet people will no doubt be going in droves to see Saw 17.

I've got no doubt this will be my favorite movie since TDK.

anyone know where I can buy the posters? I've gone to allposters.com but all they have is the 1st one...do they usually go for sale when the movie is already out?

I'm sure more will come out after the movie comes out. I know urban outfitters is doing a tie-in for the film so maybe they will sell some?

dr. watson i'm not going to lie your avatar terrifies me

I couldn't tell at first when viewing some of the commercials that the faces were full CG, but I saw one where Carol did this extremely funny expression that could not have been done with animatronics, and that got me.

I've been checking Spencers and FYE everytime I go to the mall, and they still don't have any yet.

The book tells the story of Max, who one evening plays around his home, "making mischief" in a wolf costume by chasing the dog with a fork and growling at his mother. As punishment, his mother sends him to bed without supper. In his room, a mysterious, wild forest grows out of his imagination, and Max journeys to the land of the Wild Things. The Wild Things are fearsome-looking monsters, but Max conquers them "by staring into their yellow eyes without blinking once", and he is made "the King of all Wild Things". However, he soon finds himself lonely and homesick, and he returns home to his bedroom, where he finds his supper waiting for him, still hot.
Nice, thank you.

I see some of the media are already pushing the "Too scary for kids?" tag line. Disappointing, but not all that surprising to me, given what is pushed as children entertainment.

Maybe it needs more fart jokes, and a catchy Pop Song?

no matte how G rated the movie would look. they would still push the ''to scary for children''

its pathetic.........but what can we do.

I honestly just can't wait for this movie. Where The Wild Things Are was one my favorite books I read growing up. Man Nostalgia is really kicking my ass when I watch the clips and trailer. This movies seems it would be both visually stunning as well as a warm story. I'm very curious to see how Spike Jonze will interpret this story. Also, I'm a advent fan of the Forest Whitaker eye :cwink: .................. :oldrazz:

The one AP story I read this morning was talking about the screening that had kids "covering their eyes and ears". I think I remember hearing Jones say that the rumors about the screening were B.S.
