I've found that I've mainly in this Superman rut the past two years. Superman's my favorite character, but it's recently dawned on me that I haven't given too many other characters a shot. I'm making an effort to expand my horizons, as they say. I thought that a thread like this might help me (especially) and some of you that may not have branched out as much and may be missing out.

So I ask you, which DC character do you enjoy reading the most?

Other than Superman, I enjoy reading The Flash, Green Lantern, Batman, & every once in a while, I do pick up whatever cover catches my eye or if it has an interesting cover.

Well, Superman's my favorite, too. But outside of that, I really enjoy Wonder Woman, Animal Man, and Green Lantern stories. Occasionally Batman, depending on the writer of course. It seems like the most beloved Bat-stories are from writers I generally don't care for, so they don't really do as much for me as they do for everyone else. I do love Grant Morrison's and Scott Snyder's takes on the character, though.

Superman for me, mostly before Crisis on Infinite Earths
Then there are the ones carrying the name Flash
And Batman

I've had kind of a "sample run" this weekend. I really enjoyed Flash and Green Lantern (Hal). Earth 2 ended up not being for me. What I really found out of it, other than Superman, my favorite character to read is actually Lex. Forever Evil confirmed it for me.

Dick Grayson. Whether it be as Nightwing or the new Grayson series.

Well, I'm mostly a Marvel guy and my favorite is obvious from my nickname. :)

However, I've been reading more and more DC lately. My favorites are Superman and Shazam/Capt. Marvel. About Superman, when his stories are done well, they feel bigger, above anything else, imho!

It's the same reason that I get drawn in to Superman stories. He's always been my favorite character, but it's really his stories that keep me interested in the rest of the DCU. Shazam is on my list to catch up on in the next few weeks. ;)

I read Superman mostly after him I would say Batman and Miles Morales Spider-Man as well as Invincible.

Batman's always hit or miss for me. I like the more grounded stories, but I can't take the Bat-god that sometimes comes up.

I may actually check out the Grayson series to see what's going on post-Forever Evil.

Always been Batman

Every character goes through ruts, just the nature of comics. An issue a month for 75 years? Not always gonna be good.

Daredevil fans have it made. That book has been amazingly not sucky for almost 15 years. Starting with Bendis, then Brubaker and now Waid.

Great minds think alike.:word:
Btw, I'm excited that the Superman books will be the pivotal point to big things in 2015 for DC.

Usually Batman but not as of late. At least outside of Justice League anyway.

Indeed! I just ordered the issues that I'm missing from Superman: Doomed, so I'm doing everything in my power to hold off on reading the character until I can go all the way through.

I actually had a good day today getting caught up with Pandora stories. I'm really digging her more and more in the New 52 Universe.

Same here. I did really like how he was presented in Superman Unchained, but like you mentioned, it's not a Batman arc.

I guess I'll do this too.
And I agree about Batman; I think Johns has been writing him well on JL lately.

I wasn't overly fond of Johns writing him in Earth One, but I agree with you about Johns writing Bats in New 52. He's brilliant, can hold his own against aliens, yet he isn't the Bat-god of the Timmverse. There's definitely still some grounding that makes it feel as if fits in with the smaller-scale Gotham stories.

Agreed. And his interactions with Luthor are pretty good too.

You should. It has been a pleasant surprise. I was not happy with Dick not being Nightwing (long time Nightwing fan)at all, so I went into the Grayson series with almost no expectations. So far, it has exceeded that and has kept me interested.

In terms of DC:
I've kind of been working backwards from Futures End with the Lantern arcs. I'm one of those people that aren't fatigued by the Black Lanterns having such a long run because I think that the writing is really good.

I'm a little frustrated that they decided not to reboot the Lanterns with the New 52, because it would have been nice to see the history unfold in a fresh way. Starting with Hal's return to being a Lantern wasn't bad, but I would have preferred more build-up.

Always been a fan of Robin (Tim Drake mostly)- The pre 52 Red Robin comics were awesome and i was outraged at the changes the N52 made ;) haha

Batman has always attracted great writers...there are some awesome stories out there.

As of lately I turned my lifelong sympathy for a character into utter obsession: Green Arrow!!! Very underrated, really great. He hasn't been lucky with writers, not everything is great, and some of them always tried to reinvent the charachter too radically...but overall you'll find some great mostly unknown stories.
I recommend you start with the known-ones: Longbow Hunters by Mike Grell, Year One by Andy Diggle and Quiver by Kevin Smith (where original GA Ollie Queen is reborn after dying in the mid 90s).
Everything that comes after Smith untill the title became Green Arrow/Black Canary (so basically Green Arrow Vol. 3) is great and really fun.

Generally speaking, it's always been Batman. It's not just because he's my favorite character, it's also due to how complex his world has become throughout the decades due to so many great writers working on him. Even if someone were to hate Batman, they'd still be pulled in by his comics due to how fantastic his villains and universe are.

I'm a DD fan, and I would agree, if it were not for shadownland.

Over the years it has been exclusive to Batman but I've recently been following Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Superman (Unchained/ Geoff Johns and Romita Jr. run).

Generalizations... I don't hate Batman at all, and I don't care about his comics, for example.
