Which character do you enjoy reading the most?

I've always liked some of the more lesser known characters more than the big names at Marvel and DC.

Some characters I like to read are

John Constantine (Hellblazer)
Swamp Thing, The Shade (James Robinson)
Animal Man
Steel
Superboy (post-crisis)
Deadshot (mostly for his Suicide Squad appearances
Adam Strange (classic kind of Science Fiction superhero)
Mister Terrific
Red Hood

Generalizations... I don't hate Batman at all, and I don't care about his comics, for example.

Yeah his proclamation didn't really make much sense.

I've been reading Batman or any related comics since 1988 and this is the first time in years where I go month after month without reading even one single new Batman family comic. Nothing in the Batman line right now interests me at all. Not even one bit.

Only exception was Grayson which I gave a the first couple of issues a shot cause I'm a big fan of Richard and it was an intriguing concept but the execution has been lackluster. It has borderline terrible writing.

Tomasi's Batman & Robin also once to me the crown jewel of the New 52 bat line has really fallen off as of late and I just dropped it. Same with Red Hood & The Outlaws which right now is just creatively coasting along.

It's gotten to the point that I'm pulling issues from my longboxes and re-reading older runs to remind myself why I became such a bat fan in the first place.

I'm kinda the same way. Even though Batman & Superman were always my favorites I always gravitated more towards books like L.E.G.I.O.N. and Doom Patrol than the more mainstream fare 9 times outta 10. When it came to Marvel even though I loved Spidey and The X-Men as much as the next guy it was always more about the likes of Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Morbius the Living Vampire, Dr. Strange and The Punisher for me.

To me the lesser known characters are the real heart and soul of Marvel & DC since there is more freedom to do so much more with them from a narrative standpoint thanks to them not being sacred cows.

Did you ever read Robinson's last Shade mini BTW? it was pretty damn awesome.

Since the new 52 Batman and Wonder Woman, but Green Arrow usurped it when Lemire took over.

The Flash, always. Great villains, great supporting cast, cool power set, cool costume.

And Geoff Johns turned me into an Aquaman fan. N52 Aquaman has been incredible, even after the change in the creative team.

I love Batman as a character, but ever since Batman Inc I have lost interest in the modern comics. I don't like Morrison's new villains, I don't like Batman going public, I don't like the N52 retcon of Tim Drake, I hate Damian Wayne in every way imaginable, I hate Dick Grayson's identity being public knowledge but nobody connecting the dots to the rest of the Batfamily, I hate the entirety of Death of the Family, etc.

I like Scott Snyder's Swamp Thing run but his Batman doesn't do it for me.

Wally West was my favorite DC character to read. Followed by Kyle Rayner, then Aquaman, then Tim Drake, then Superboy (Kon-El), then Cassandra Cain.

Obviously, the last few years have not been kind to me.

I've read a lot of Deathstroke over the past few weeks (solo and New Suicide Squad appearances). I'm really digging him more and more. It wasn't until about Flashpoint when I started to get on board with the character.

Batman, yeah some of the more recent stuff is hit or miss, but Snyder has done great. Tomasi has done okay.

Batwoman - she really is Batman with b00bs. And red head and jewish and lesbian. Batgirl fits more of the fun-loving kinda cute Robin type than the dark brooding Batman loner, which Batwoman follows more.

Jonah Hex - I just don't get this guy. He's a jerk, but will sometimes do the right thing. Hence, I keep reading.

Daredevil fans have it made. That book has been amazingly not sucky for almost 15 years. Starting with Bendis, then Brubaker and now Waid.
Andy Diggle's run included? It's infamous for being bad.
I haven't read it, no comment on it.

Generally speaking, it's always been Batman. It's not just because he's my favorite character, it's also due to how complex his world has become throughout the decades due to so many great writers working on him. Even if someone were to hate Batman, they'd still be pulled in by his comics due to how fantastic his villains and universe are.
Most of his villains are basically psychos, the entertaining ones are not enough to make his rogues gallery stand up for me.

Sounds to me like he's saying: "I don't give a f*** about Batman. I don't hate him, but I'm not interested enough to try and get into his stories".

lmao dude you really didn't get what that quote was in reference to at all. Please re-read the thread so you could actually read the quote you quoted from me within context.

Sorry about the mistake. And thanks for the fun attitude.
Read it again, I understand what he means about the villains and the world grabbing someone's attention, even if the person hates the center character.

the flash has been at the top of my list since the new 52 started. I also thoroughly enjoy Harley every month. As far as off beat stuff, justice league 3000 is my favorite book.

Hawkman. Through thick and thin, I just love the character. No matter how small his role or how bad a story happens to be, as long as he appears, I'm usually happy.

One of my buddies has the same passion for Captain Marvel/Shazam. Even though he hasn't had a true run in the New 52 yet, he still buys every book with Shazam appearing.
