I want to buy some more comics on Ebay and not sure which to get. I already have some random issues from various Superman comics and the whole 1986 Man Of Steel miniseries but what are some other good ones?

I always recommend these to new fans as they are fairly accessible to new readers and 3 of them are crucial to the current Superman canon.

Birthright (the new movie seems to be cribbing ideas from here)
Secret Origin (see Birthright)
Up, Up and Away
Secret Identity
Red Son
Godfall
Son of Superman
Lex Luthor: Man of Steel
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
Exile
Brainiac
For All Seasons
All-Star Superman
Any of the Action Comics or Superman archives

in no particular order....

Man of Steel
Secret Origins
Whatever Happened To the Man of Tomorrow?
Death of Superman Saga
Up, Up, and Away
Superman: Last Son
Superman: Escape From Bizarro World
Superman and the Legion of Superheroes
Superman: Brainiac
Unconventional Warfare
That Healing Touch
Ruin Revealed
Camelot Falls
All Star Superman
Lex Luthor: Man of Steel
Peace On Earth
Kingdom Come
Superman For All Seasons

Am I the only one who found All-Star Superman incredibly lame?

It had some nice ideas in it, but was muddled down with so much weird, "out-there" stuff... (even for Superman) that it was just...hokey?

The "Super-power Serium"...really?

Try,
Superman vol 2 #1-22 these are the John Byrne issues..
Superman vol 1 #233-243 Neal Adams covers, Curt Swan (at his very best), written by Denny O'Neil... great issues...a revamping that lasted about a year.

If you like Batman try to read:
Batman: Year One
The Man who falls
Batman and the Monster Men
Batman and the Mad Monk
Batman: Shaman
Batman: Gothic
The Dark Knight Returns
The Dark Knight Strikes Again
All-Star Batman and Robin the boy wonder
Batman: The Long Halloween
Batman: Dark Victory
Robin: Year One

LMAO why does EVERY DC related convo have to turn into a Batman one. I mean look Batman is the reason I got into comics back in the late 80's in the first place. He's also without a doubt my favorite fictional character like ever but good god man must EVERYTHING revolve around him?

It's a Superman thread and Superman has as many classic stories as Batman does. Don't try to sell him short by hijacking his thread and shifting the subject now.

I thought this was for any comic, not just for one character.

I always highly recommend The Man of Steel...

You are not the only one. I am not a fan of All-Star Superman, either. I'm not a fan of the Mort Weisinger Silver Age Superman with the near-infinite level of Weisinger's Superman's power, bumbling buffoon Clark Kent and bully sportscaster Steve Lombard, Lois Lane as Superwoman, Superman having been Superboy, Krypto the Super Dog, Bizarro World, millions of Kryptonian survivors in the Bottled City of Kandor, Pa Kent dieing, Superman as God creating Life and curing cancer or Superman dying. I found Alan Moore's Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow to be a better, more touching, heartfelt ending to the Mort Weisinger Silver Age Superman, complete with Curt Swan's art, the definitive Silver Age Superman artist. Alex Ross and Mark Waid's Kingdom Come is my favorite "final" Superman story.

What does everyone think of

Superman: Strange Attractors? Worth buying?
