Which Connery movie is your favourite?

Connery did six official movies, and one unofficial one.

I think FRWL, Goldfinger and Thunderball are his 'golden three', Dr No, YOLT and NSNSA are good movies and DAF was a mistake. It's like an American screwball comedy, not a Bond movie. People say Roger Moore was the least serious 007, but Diamonds is the most comedic movie.

And I hate to admit, but I really like Diamonds Are Forever. I can pretty much find something enjoyable in all the Bond films, except Moonraker. I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really hate that movie.

Moonraker is much better than Diamonds are Forever. DAF is camp comedy. Moonraker has some of the best stunts of the series, great villain in Drax, good action scenes, wit ("Disapointed, Mr Bond?" "Heartbroken, Mr Drax.").

Goldfinger is my favourite Connery movie, but my favourite performance by him is Thunderball, because you see Bond under high pressure with a tight time limit. The meeting scene with Domino shows Bond turn on the charm so quickly, it's just magic!......

Moonraker is much better than Diamonds are Forever. DAF is camp comedy. Moonraker has some of the best stunts of the series, great villain in Drax, good action scenes, wit ("Disapointed, Mr Bond?" "Heartbroken, Mr Drax.").

Moonraker was an attempt to cash in on Star Wars and Alien. It is nothing like Bond should be IMO. DAF is definitely one of the weaker films, but much more tolerable than Moonraker.

Drax was kind of creepy, but other than that, it's flat out awful.

Diamonds are Forever has a blatant refrerence to the moon landings conspiracy. You Only Live Twice has spaceships eating spaceships and a secret base in a hollow volcano.

Exactly. The problem with Moonraker is the slapstick Jaws sequences, not the sci-fi elements - which were hardly outright fantasy, overseen as they were by NASA.

You make it sound like any old Star Wars cash-in. The fact is, it was the eleventh movie of a very successful series, coming on the back of The Spy Who Loved Me, an enormous hit (if anything, Moonraker is a copy of TSWLM). Yes, it took elements from Star Wars, but only at the climax. All movies, not just Bond, take from other movies. From Russia With Love pretty obviously takes a scene from North By Northwest. Licence to Kill takes from Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. Live and Let Die is blaxploitation. And so on.

Star Wars effected everything. You wouldn't even have TV shows like Battlestar Gallactica or movies like Flash Gordon without it.

You have it the other way around. There wouldn't be Star Wars if it wasn't for serials like Flash Gordon.
