Well, with the Ironman thread, only seemed natural for the next one to ask is Captain America.

For me, Evans was at his best in Winter Soldier.

I had to go with Winter Soldier on this one. He's pretty consistent in all of them though. I just feel that he gets more interesting things to do in this film compared to the others. Particularly the two Avengers films and CW, where he has to share a lot of time with other characters, particularly RDJ. TFA would be my second choice.

Like with RDJ it's very hard to choose because he's consistently great. He's wonderful in TFA but it think he's grown into the character even more since then. While Civil War has some of his best moments (especially in his stuff with RDJ) he has a bit more to do in Winter Soldier

Winter Soldier
Civil War
The First Avenger
Age Of Ultron
The Avengers

The Winter Soldier, easily. It has everything. But I can't really say anything bad about his other movies. He's indeed consistent in all of them. The Winter Soldier just gave Cap the biggest opportunity to shine.

Tough. I enjoyed him more in the Winter Soldier, but I think The First Avenger might have been the better performance. Decided to go with TWS though.

This.

This. Avengers is last for also for that damn costume.

This sums up my feelings perfectly, TWS for me.

Agreed!

Winter Soldier.

It still disappoints me we lost those awesome Cap scenes in Avengers. Those are the deleted scenes that should've stayed in.

I'll have to agree with this.

Civil War for me. I feel Cap's at his best when his principles are challenged, and while he was certainly challenged in TWS, he was more obviously on the "right" side there. The moral debate at the heart of Civil War was much less black-and-white, and the people challenging him and telling him to move this time were allies, so I found his conflict and performance/portrayal the most compelling there.

Cap is more proactive in Civil War as well. In TWS, the choice is essentially made for him. He lies to Pierce in their one conversation, but other than that he only goes rogue after he's already been attacked by SHIELD in the elevator. In CW, he chooses to go rogue on his own.

I do think Cap was clearly morally in the wrong in one respect in Civil War though. It doesn't excuse Stark's actions, but Cap absolutely should have told him the truth about his parents. Stark had the right to know, and it could have saved a lot of headaches later. That's probably the one thing I didn't like about Cap in CW.

Agreed, but Cap NOT being entirely "right" for once (and admitting as much by the end) only made the portrayal even more interesting to me.

This is a tough one. For me it's down to either TWS or CW for obvious reasons, but TFA is also excellent.

Its worth noting that even Steve's moral error was still an unselfish one, motivated by a desire to spare someone else pain. It was a case of Truth versus Compassion, and he picked wrong, but not for bad reasons.

The First Avenger. The only place where he had a tangible arc.
