2 highly anticipated matches coming out with lopsided results.

Brazil VS Germany 100%

Mainly for what was on the line for Brazil

Losing 7-1 in Soccer is the equivalent of losing about 86-3 in the NFL, so I'm going to go with the Brazil v. Germany match. Super Bowl 48 was bad, but it wasn't THAT bad.

Well given that Brazil's elite have been violently supressing the poor and activists just so they could host a sports match, it was far more enjoyable watching Brazil lose.

and the Superbowl had the cardinal sin of being boring, so I'd say it was worse.

I'll go with Germany/Brazil being the bigger beatdown.

I'll go with Brazil since they are a major soccer country and were hosting the World Cup. Them losing like that was not expected.

Actually the beating was worse than I thought...

yeah definitely sticking with the World Cup match being worse.

Germany / Brazil was worse in the fact that soccer is an inferior sport that I wouldn't be caught dead watching.

Denver / Seattle was worse in the context that I was actually invested in the outcome, and it wasn't what I wanted.

Football is the number one sport in the world always has and forever will be. No cares about the NFL outside of the States.

Doesn't mean it's good.

I'd rather take a crowbar to the temple than to watch soccer.

I guess the people in the relationship thread know that feeling huh?:awesome:

I voted Germany vs. Brazil. Losing a match at the world championship at home with that score is dreadful and humiliating. And far worse than the superbowl match.

Brazil are renowned for having won the world cup 5 times, they are the country that gave birth to Pele, the 70's Brazil team, they're history and legacy is legendary (true story) and unparralled at the international stage and at the world cup, without Brazil the game would not have the following it does now............the Denver Broncos, well....er........... they're stadium is reeeallllly high:whatever:

I don't really understand this poll surely it should be 2 international sports going against each other and not 1 international and 1 American?

That's interesting. I've seen 22 run baseball games. Never heard of a 14 goal NHL game and definitely never will see scoring out of the NFL or NBA like that unless robots start playing.

Oh crap, I didn't see this thread. I just created a blowout loss thread that posed the same question, only it also asked for other high-level blowout losses. But mods, feel free to delete it since it's essentially the same thing.

It's all good, Rows. Yours isn't limited to 2 options so I guess it's fine.

So Brazil is to blame for my life being consumed with crappy soccer talk the past few weeks, got it.

Get over it. There are sports that not everyone likes but they're not b****ing about it.

what difference does that make? In either case, it's the biggest event in the given sport.

I guess it's more because the obvious answer to the question would be the event for the sport that is more popular. The loss that Brazil suffered had a much bigger impact on a lot more people than the Superbowl did. So asking which game was worse between a sport that only Americans care about versus a sport that the world cares about is kind of silly.

except that the only question which was asked was "which was worse?"

The number of people impacted by the event is irrelevant when you're looking at a comparison of simply two games that were blowouts and wondering which blowout was more of a blowout. We're simply comparing one game to another, without including unnecessary extemporaneous factors in order to bolster your argument.

Obviously, the WC Semi is far worse than the NFL blowout based on what I've posted, but there's no need to bring the whole "SOCCER IS THE WORLD"S MOST POPULAR SPORT! ALSO DONT CALL IT SOCCER, IT"S FUTBOL YOU NEANDERTHALS. ONLY AMERICANS WATCH THE NFL. DERP." It gets tiring getting beaten over the head with this line of reason constantly, especially in a debate where it doesn't even belong.

Wow, I never said anything of the sort, but good on you for exaggerating.

The question is "Which Game Was Worse?" and there is no other context provided. It could be which one was a worse blowout in terms of points, which game was worse statistically for the losing team, which one was worse for the fans of the losing team, etc etc. I interpreted it as which one was worse in the grand scheme of things (in other words, all of the above). That's why I brought up soccer being popular on a global level. That loss impacted more people, so it was "worse" for a greater number of individuals.

Also, statistically, the Germany/Brazil game was more of a blowout. The single point differential between Seattle and Denver was obviously bigger, but the odds of a soccer team winning 7-1 in a WC semi final are much, much lower. And you pointed that out in your earlier post.

Edit: I didn't mean to turn this into a sport vs. sport thread. Like I said, it depends on the context of the question. If Moose meant it to be an overall "Which Game Was Worse", then comparing an international sport to a national sport doesn't really make a lot of sense, as the answer would be obvious.
