It's gotta be Venom. I mean, since when can an explosion completely disinigrate something?

Since the first Spider-Man movie. Remember the Green Goblin tossed a pumpkin bomb at the board members on the balcony which turned them into skeletons in a split second? Venom will not return. Nor will Harry. The article is bunk. If either one of them were to return, it would completely defeat the purpose of the whole plot of Spider-Man 3.

I suspect the actor was hopeful (Grace) or pulling our legs. Which is what I voted.

Even if he wasn't, Sony wants to milk this. Don't expect Venom again until SM5.

If Venom ever returns, it will be whenever they revamp the franchise and start over again from scratch. For this series of Spidey films, he's fulfilled his purpose.

topher grace and Sam Raimi are the ones who said it. Atleast that's what I heard on another site

Symbiote or Sandman, if you interpret his dissipation as some kind of sad suicide like one of my friends did.

I'd love to see Sandman return. Church was epic in this.

but no one wants sandman. church kicked ass but no1 wants sandman again. i loved him and he was a good reason why ive seen spiderman 3, 4 times in theaters. i dont think this statement is true but if it is its venom. harry cant and if he did how does he escape his coffin? lmao. and sandman has the easiest way too cuz i dont think hes dead. venom seems like the most reasonable considering fans want more.

If I had to take a guess, I would say that the screenwriter deliberately handled Venom's death in such a way that, if the folks who made the next movie wanted to keep Venom dead, they could, and they wouldn't have to worry about tying up a loose end left from SM3, but also "killed" him in such a way that a semi-plausible explanation for bringing him back could be made, in the event they felt they should.

Long story short, I don't think the people who made the movie "know" if Venom is dead.

thats not a bad guess. not bad at all. i think theyre leaning towards dead tho

Well I sure like to think so. Because seriously Venom was the only villain that made a short appearance though he was the one most fans were crying out for and he was supposed to be the big surprise of the movie, how can they just have him there just for 6 minutes?

In an interview, Raimi said he didn't wanted the Venom story to be left as a cliffhanger at the end of 3 to avoid disappointing fans, that's why Venom made a full appearance in third installment. Which leads me to believe he is dead, for now.

Well I'm not implying that it's a cliffhanger... it's sort of a (from Sam) "Okay, I don't know if I'm coming back for four, but if I am, I don't want to deal with Venom again, and if I don't come back, the guy after me might not want to either, so I'll end it so that, for all practical purposes, he's dead. But just in case they want to bring him back, I won't show a body, and Peter will cover his eyes during the explosion."

Well the only thing that puts a dent in my theory is the fact that the article says "appears to die in Spider-Man 3". But that aside, my opinion on the matter:

Defoe. Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. Think about it:

1) Harry had the body last

2) Goblin makes a return in the comics

3) You've got Gwen...you can do a movie loosely based on ASM #121/122 or a variant of it...because the bridge thing was used in Spidey 1

4) Harry's dead...you'll only have 1 goblin around.

5) Norman gets wind of Harry's dead...all he knows is that Spider-Man was involved somehow...think Harry's passion, only now the roles are reversed.

6) Possible ASM #400 spin-off

7) Peter/MJ having a child story

Lots of opportunity here. I could see GG resurfacing...if it wasn't for that nagging remark about "dying in Spider-Man 3" Okay...how about "was dead in Spider-Man 3"? That works.

Any way...my two cents.

I pick Venom.

Why?

number one we all know that the symbiote has the ability to blend into the back ground, so it could have disguised itself in the explosion.

number 2 we know that the symbiote has protected Eddie from things like the explosion before.

number 3 we know the sytmbiote also acts like a life support system so if Eddie did get hurt the symbiote can keep him alive. And thus would further the story of them needing each other in 4.

number 4, we saw Harry die in peter's arms.

number 5 Ramey has probably heard an ear full from the Venom fans.

I posted my reply before I read this. Thank you because that's an excellent point.

And why would the bomb completely disinegrate Venom, and only scare Harry? Huh? Didn't think of that one, did ya?

wow you make good points here, i think its GG but how will he come back

Not that difficult of a story...

The Goblin Serum. That saves him. He appears dead, the wounds look deadly, but he's not actually dead. Harry, after Bernerd cleaned Norman's wounds, sees that he's not dead, and finds a secluded place for him to recover. Meanwhile, Harry still has a thing against Spidey because Harry knows that everyone else believes Norman dead, so in Harry's mind it's still "Spider-Man killed my father." The whole "Avenge me!" bit still would make sense because Norman was left for dead. And now, X number of years after his supposed "death", Norman can make a comeback because he's regained his strength and the wounds have healed, thanks to the Goblin Serum. Expecting to find Harry waiting for him, Norman is enraged when he finds that Harry is dead. And the real puncher: He was working with Spider-Man! Harry betrayed Norman! And Harry isn't alive to feel the wraith of Norman, so Norman goes after Spider-Man, accusing him of mind-washing/destroying Harry.

It'd make a heck of a story, if you ask me.

it wasnt dafoe who said that if you read the article it says some one who died in spiderman 3 not the spiderman series

Well we all want our favorite to return at some point, but I would like to see new villains for now.

If it's anything other than the symbiote, then it's ridiculous and will have lost EVEN MORE credibility, trying to be remotely grounded will fail if they bring back people who were vapourised or skewered then burried, p-lease!

The only way Brock is returning is if he's playing Skeletor :joker: :joker: :joker:

Unless those bones are not really Brock's, but the cab driver's bones who he killed. The symbiote made the switch by protecting and moving Brock out of harm's way (one level below where they're standing), and then swiftly replaced that which you see before you with the bones of the cab driver's.

or...

He's dead.
