Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division.

    or

Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate

Personally , I like the original! The current one is stupid! Why did they even change it, anyway??

Didn't they change it again to have "Homeland" in there somewhere? Or was that just in the movies?

I like the second, but, like the first, as it was the first one I knew while reading the comics (I started Marvel comics with their titles from the sixties and have been working towards the present.)

I never bothered to care what SHIELD stood for until the movies mentioned it, and apparently in the movie sthe acronym there is unique, so I'll vote neither and say the movie acronym.

What's a "Logistics Directorate" ? Makes no sense....

That's why "Law Enforcement Division" just seemed like what they did.

I like this one too, it actually sounds like the name of a group, or more of a sentence.

These two sound more like words put together to spell SHIELD, like when Osborn said our group's name is HAMMER, now find out what that stands for.

But they deal with more than "Homeland" issues. They are and international Law Enforcement and Spy organization. Right?

And "Hazard" makes them sound like a branch of the EPA! LOL....What?? They clean up spills now??

The second acronym irritates me for the extra letter. "Law-Enforcement" should be abbreviated "LE," not just "L." That would make it "SHIELED." F*** that hyphenation noise. :cmad:

The first one is kind of lame, honestly. The other two sound more like actual acronyms, the first one pretty clearly sounds like someone wanted to call it SHIELD and then strung together a bunch of random words that spelled out SHIELD.

The Stan Lee version speaks better to what they do......lame?? Naaaah. Accurate.

Hazard?? That could be a garbage dump....LOL

So "Supreme Headquarters" doesn't sound off to you? Out of all the words used to spell SHIELD they're the most nonsensical.

At least it's a descriptor of their function and not a word or two shoved in there just to spell SHIELD, like "Supreme Headquarters."

The Movie version sounds the best. Like others said, the original sounds like a bunch of words strung together, so it spells Shield. And the second doesn't sound as good as the Movie version.

Yes..."Supreme Headquarters" fits them perfectly....they have more clout than the CIA , FBI, Interpol or MI6.....That floating fortress alone makes them Supreme.

The part "Espionage and Law-Enforcement" says more than "Directorate".
