In its entirety, of course.

Which one should you read first? Any of them?

i dont know why people rave about sandman so much.

i got bored to death of the book after about 15.

1: ...

2: They're all so supossedly fantastic, I can't decide which I want to read first. Hence the poll.

So everyone's varying opinions are supposed to be helpful?

Don't be sully, of course they will.

Can you believe they all interest me equally?

Then pick randomly. Or here's a thought: Read them all at once. It'll keep you from getting bored with any one of them. Some here, some there.

I'll make this decision easy for you... start with Sandman.

Planetary.

With Authority,I only recommend Ellis' stuff.Nothing has come close.

I say New X-Men, but only because the only other one I've read on that list is Sandman, which...may or may not be for all tastes.

I would say read Authority first, but we both know you don't like me and will do the opposite of whatever I tell you out of spite, so instead I'll say read absolutely anything first besides the Authority, because that's just the sort of clever reverse-psychology trickery that people like me use to get people to do what we want them to do.

But definitely read Ellis' run on The Authority before Planetary. It takes place first chronologically, and explains a few key concepts better. [blackout]Like the Bleed and shiftships. And then there's the Jenny Sparks references...[/blackout]

I didn't enjoy Morrison's New X-Men or Animal Man. I say go with Fables.

I'm going to say Animal Man. What a great book.

Fables would have to be my second choice, followed closely by New X-Men. 100 Bullets and Sandman are both really, really good but I prefer the others to them.

Planetary is a very unsatisfying read. Some of the stories are fun, but most disappointed me. Authority is quite boring.

Morrison's "New X-Men" was a "What If" tale:
"What if Marvel hired a writer who actively hates and disrespects all of the established characters in the X-Men... and then puts him to work writing the X-Men?" DisFRIGGINaster.

I always find that funny. Because YOU didn't like Morrison's run, it must be Morrison that hated the X-Men. Uh, maybe he just tried something different for a change?

Um...no. You have that EXACTLY backwards.
It's that he completely re-wrote established character's personalities and motivations. THAT is the reason I don't like Morrison. I knew nothing about him before New X-Men. He could have either earned my appreciation or my disdain. He chose to disrespect previous authors and most of the characters. His choices dictated my response.

Loved it. It was a masterpiece that has yet to be rivaled by any subsequent X-writer and most preceding ones.

Morrison's run on the X-Men was the only readable run that crappy comic has ever had in its entire existence.

Or maybe you didn't know the characters as well as you thought they did?

Look, Morrison's interpretation of the X-Men is just as valid as Claremont's or any other X-Men writer. It was just different. Kinda like how Claremont completely took everything that was built by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and threw it upside down.

That's like saying "Hitler was the only nice German leader ever" it's so wrong
