spider sense. All his other powers have been actually very well shown.

ROFL.

I hated how he did that in the thid film. It made me laugh, but he acts like a pimp during that whole sequence.

Just Gwen and MJ (flirting with Betty doesn't count)...for now........

I think all of the powers have been addressed pretty well.

Definately his Spider sense, too many times hie has been sucker punched in the movies when his spider sense should have been going off.

I dont know why they didnt show it going off but Peter simply wasnt quick enough to dodge the attack.

Remember, Spider-sense only tells him there IS danger. It doesn't tell him the speed its coming at, only how much danger and approximately where its coming from.

I disagree. The scene in the 1st film with the spitball and paper aeroplane proves that.

Let's see:
Wall-crawling? Check.
Webbing? Check.
Agility? Check.
Swinging? Check.
Strength? Hmmm.... maybe.
Genius? Nope.
Wisecracks? Barely.
Spider-sense? Writers would rather forget about.
Actual masculinity? As masculine as a macho seahorse.

Genius? Nope? You sure about that? I was positive it was mentioned a number of times how Peter's a smart guy.

Hmmmm......

Let's look at the reasons for and against:

For:
Won the high school science prize (woopy doo!)
Understands undergraduate level physics (a bit better)

Against:
Get's hit on the head by Bonesaw
Is always late and always disorganised
Is unable to make any decent money despite his "genius"
Acts like a girl in romantic matters
Is unable to make any money despite his Spider powers

Some of those criticisms are equally valid towards his comicbook persona too. It's a bugbear of mine. We are consistently told that Peter is a "genius". He's rated 5/7 for intelligence in OHOTMU, which is usually one more than most of the other "genius" characters. Yet, if you were really that clever, you'd be a lot more successful in life.

In summary, he's above average intelligence, smart if you will. As smart as your accountant, but not as smart as your dentist. :)

It's safe to assume that his duties as Spider-Man take up way too much of his time for him to use his smarts to make money. He needs to get paid doing **** like instantly, hence team-ups with Avengers footing the bill.

We need just a tad bit more spider sense, and we need mor wise cracking.

In the Spiderman movies, the Spider Sense was givin the least justice.I hope it's improved upon in Spiderman 4.

I feel as if Ultra Lantern has been going through really, really old threads and resurrecting them recently...

...because that's exactly what they've been doing.

See, I told yous.

I agree.

I want them to take a lot of liberties with the Spider Sense, since it's in 3D and all. Someone mentioned one effect that could be used to show the tingling going on in Peter's head. I forgot what it was exactly, but it sounded cool :awesome:

Push-Pull/Hitchcock effect?

I think his web should be organic, but that he had to make the webshooters to "concentrate" the webbing and make it easier to control. Something like that...

This is the perfect scenario imo.

I see your point, but I don't think your "Against" list is very valid.

He may be a Genius, but his isn't a fighter initially. It makes sense that he's going to take a few knocks, especially from a professional fighter.

That's not uncommon for people with higher brain functions to be disorganized.

You can be a genius and not be business savvy. There are various forms of intelligence.

What does acting goofy in a romantic situation have to do with genius?

He tried making money with his spider powers and that resulted in his Uncle Ben being killed, I'm pretty sure that put a damper on his desire to profit off of his abilities.

1) Nerd Power (scientific skills used for crime fighting) - In the comics Spider-man figured out ingenius ways to bring down unstoppable foes. This emphasized Peter Parker would have never survived as Spider-man without being a science nerd which is ironic because those gifts are always a source of ridicule socially. Mechanical webshooters, perhaps the coolest and most useful gadget in the history of comics, was the perfect example why only a nerd could be Spider-man.

2) The power of wise cracks - Peter Parker is a different person when he dons the mask as Spider-man, suddenly the serious nerd is full of lively wit and humor. He constantly fustrates and humiliates his dangerous enemies by taunting them in ways that no other mortal dare attempt. His taunts and wise cracks can force an experienced criminal make a critical mistake the way Michael Jordan's trash talk on the court can make a world class athlete second guess themselves. Not only is it amusing and endearing but is shows Parker feels more confident and comfortable with himself as Spider-man.

3) The spider-sense - In the Raimi trilogy the spider-sense could easily be confused with speedy reflexes since it is indicated by slowing down time. Actually the spider-sense is a form of ESP that can warn Parker of impending danger before any physical signs present themselves. The audience would not know this from watching the Raimi films.

It looks like Spider Sense is the winner so far and I have to say I agree.

Hey, did anyone else notice that in Raimi's movies the only time that Spider-man's spider sense 'goes off,' is when his mask is also off? Hmmm...makes you wonder.
