In the Spiderman movies, the Spider Sense was givin the least justice.I hope it's improved upon in Spiderman 4.
I think a lot of people have issue withe Peter not being portrayed as a genius and tbh i'm pretty glad he isn't, intelligent and well read for sure but i don't think the character needs to be sold as the smartest kid who ever lived.
The webshooters, i understand why they were dropped in the first place, it's much easier, the audience already is accepting of Peter getting crazy powers from a spider, why waste screen time and chance something the audience might not accept for something that once the plot gets going is mostly irrelevant. He shoots web, why waste 10 minutes of the film going into how and why when it can come about the same way as the rest of his powers?
Spider-sense. tbf if done correctly Spider-sense kills a lot of tension, and removes quite a bit of the danger he's in. Cheap scares work in film, the audience(mostly* i'm sure some in here would be quick to tell me they don't) nearly always reacts to them, it gets the adfenaline going and gets people to feel more involved with whats going on, also creates a genuine sense of threat around the antagonist. Peter going into spider-sense and everything going slow, totally takes all that away. it almost makes Spider-man too good.
We know the person sneaking up is never really going to finish off spider-man which is why it works in the comics, everything happens at the same pace and he dodges as usual it's just shows with the little spider sense logo above his head. The spider-sense is usually shown after/during the dodge, where as on film you have to show it before the event, then you've ruined the surprise. It's doesn't make it worse or better it's just that some things don't work as well in film, it's possible spider-sense is one of them. He got amazing reflexes and speed, in all honestly if he has those in the film i wouldn't miss spider-sense too much.
Wall crawling, now that's something i want to see more of!

Technically, he still had his mask on in SM1 when Goblin's glider shot towards him from behind and he dodged it(even though the mask was mostly torn).
I thought the first instance of the spider sense was rubbish. peter is about to be punched by flash and the camera pans to a fly, a spit ball then then flash's fist. I know the scene is supposed to show potention danger but that scene made absolutely no sense whatsoever and I only knew what was going on because I am familar with what the spider sense IS and what it does.
what danger does the fly posess? or the spit ball (that was no where near him), according to that scene spidey's spider sense would go off when it's raining and the raindrops are coming towards him.
I realise it must be hard to show a tingling sensation when spidey is in 'danger' but there must be a better way then the one shown in SM1. if you actually SHOW the danger like the 70's TV series (a red tinted scene of the danger) then the audience will think that spidey actually 'sees' the danger and he doesn't.
if you do what spider-man and his amazing friends did and have his eyes light up then the audience would literally think spidey's eyes light up (iceman hilariously comments on spidey's glowing eyes in one episode DOH!)
show how the spider-sense works the first time and then every instance after that show a simple graphic.
personally if it were up to me I would have someone attack spidey and the screen distorts to blur everything other than the potential danger, and then later if there is danger but not immediate (for instance if lizard is in the next room) then I would distort the entire screen for a split second.
