Out of all the superhero movies, which character has the best movies? I'm limiting the poll to those who've been rebooted or have more than just a trilogy of films, but feel free to chime in with Captain America or whoever else.

I went with Spidey. Sure, there's been some misses with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 or Spider-Man 3, but those aren't nearly as bad as some of those Superman movies or a couple of the Batman's we've gotten.

Let me know if I forgot anyone or have any suggestions and I'll add them too.

Iron Man. He was in basically nine films (not counting the cameo in TIH) and even the worst of them were still okay. I don't think there is a single film with him that I would consider outright bad. And his best films like Iron Man 1, Avengers 1, Civil War, Infinity War, and End Game are among the best in the entire genre. Captain America might be better if we are just talking MCU Cap, but he also has that awful 1990 film and Iron Man doesn't.

For me it's between Batman and Superman;

Batman '66 -- Like
Batman '89 -- Like
Batman Returns -- Like
Batman Forever -- Okay
Batman & Robin -- Dislike
Batman Begins -- Like
The Dark Knight -- Like
The Dark Knight Rises -- Like
Batman v Superman -- Like
Justice League (TC) -- Dislike

Superman -- Like
Superman II -- Like
Superman III - Dislike
Superman IV -- Dislike
Superman Returns -- Okay
Man of Steel -- Okay
Batman v Superman -- Like
Justice League (TC) -- Dislike

Answer -- Batman

Iron Man is a good answer if you're going to count all of his MCU appearances. Even Iron Man 2 is mostly just mediocre

Batman.

The Dark Knight has a wide assortment of movies ranging from gothic noirs, crime thrillers, campy comedies, you name it. Can’t beat that.

Batman.

Helped redefine blockbuster cinema on at least two occasions.

Batman '89 and The Dark Knight are two of the most iconic blockbusters of all time. The Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the best film trilogies out there. Batman '66 is a comedic gem. Mask of The Phantasm is still one of the best animated CBM's ever made.

Even the bad films are iconic.

As far as Spider-man, I hate the Raimi films and the Webb ones aren't exactly amazing, either. The only one I really love is Homecoming.

The Superman filmography is the smallest and oldest and I haven't even seen half of it, but what I have seen of the old stuff did not look good.

This is ultimately just a battle between Batman and X-men.

Really, TDK aside, I love the X-men movies more. But the X-men movies also have by far the worst bombs. So it really depends whether 'best' means the most great movies or the fewest terrible ones. If door number 1, the Mutants win, if door number 2, the Caped Crusader does.

Batman has Batman & Robin/BVS/JL, Superman has Superman 3/4/BVS/JL/MOS, Spider-Man has Spider-Man 3/TASM2 and the X-Men have The Last Stand, Apocalypse and Dark PhoeniX...

Iron Man, Capt. America, Thor and even the Hulk with the 2003 film never appeared in a very critically panned film unless you count those direct to VHS films. But then Iron Man and Thor never appeared in any live action films until the mcu.

What a great idea for thread discussion, needs some characters adding, but as a debate piece, it's fried gold.

I was going to go with Cap until KR reminded us about the 90s flick. So I went with Iron Man, though we dont know yet if he could survive a recast like Supes, Spidey and Bats.

If you extend the survey to all comic book characters, The Joker would probably be my selection, Leto notwithstanding.

Yeah, the 90s Cap movie takes him out of the conversation. Iron Man is I think the right answer. Was never in a movie I disliked, while all other characters with a similar number of appearances was.

This!

Batman if we’re looking at solo films only. Iron Man stands a good chance if all appearances including in team films count.

If, we are counting team films: Iron Man.

If we are only doing solo films: it's a tough choice between Batman and Spider-Man.

Batman '66 -- good
Batman '89 -- great
Batman Returns -- good
Batman Forever -- bad
Batman & Robin -- worst comic book film ever
Batman Begins -- great
The Dark Knight -- excellent
The Dark Knight Rises -- great
Batman v Superman -- good

Spider-Man -- great
Spider-Man 2 -- great
Spider-Man 3 -- bad
The Amazing Spider-Man -- good
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 -- bad
Spider-Man: Homecoming -- great
Spider-Man: Far From Home -- good

I'd say that Batman has the better high quality films, but has also two films that are far worse than Spidey's worst.

I thought about adding more to it but I thought I'd leave it at those who have more than just a standard trilogy and have been rebooted.

I have to agree. There hasn't been an outright bad Iron Man movie or even a bad movie that he appeared in. The same can't be said for Batman, Spider-Man or Superman. At least with Batman and Spider-Man the filmography is mostly good or at least okay. Poor Superman has had a rough ride since Superman II.

I guess it depends on whether you mean consistently good or a few really, really good ones.

I think I'd go with Iron Man or Captain America (though IM 2 and 3 weren't my favs, but, upon rewatch, weren't nearly as bad as some people make them out to be) if you mean the first and Batman if you mean the second. The Michael Keaton (esp the first one) and Christian Bale movies (BB and TDK are possibly my favorite SH movies period) if you mean the second.

If we want to limit it to characters that have been successfully rebooted, then definitely Batman as he has had three highly successful versions, not counting the animated versions. And a fourth version looks promising. The only reason Batman isn't the easy choice is because he's also been in a lot of junk and they've screwed him up about as often as they've gotten him right. Captain America may have Batman beat overall, but only one of those versions was any good so if being rebooted is a factor, that isn't really keeping to the spirit of the question.

Of course, if we are just talking about reboots, X-Men probably shouldn't be in the poll either. Thanks to DOFP, it isn't really accurate to call the First Class crew a true reboot.

To comment further, I think the main reason Batman has the best is because 2 interpretations of the character have redefined the genre. First with Burtons movie in 1989 and then Nolans TDK even more so (and Batman Begins even). We also have another version coming in 2022 that looks like it's gonna end up being really special, so for the way I look at it, it's really a no brainer.

I'd still pick Batman over Iron Man or Captain America for several reasons:

1. He's proven he can be successful through multiple different versions.

2. He's had most of his success without the benefit of being involved in shared cinematic universes and teamup films.

3. As I said, even his bad films are iconic. Are the likes of Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, The First Avenger, and Age of Ultron better than, say, Batman & Robin? Sure. But they're also not as memorable as Batman and Robin.

I'm going to cheat by pulling out @kguillou's favorite liveaction comicbook adaption and say Daredevil. All the precious hours he offers on TV time are more than all CBM hours of one of these characters combined.

Worth bringing up

It may not be a “filmography” but it is a great body of quality live action with 3 very strong seasons.
