White Men Can't Jump Re-make in the works

SO news has reached us that a 'White Men Can't Jump' re-make is in development.
Not sure how I feel about this. It was one of my favourite films growing up, the buddy chemistry between Harrelson & Snipes was on point.
While I look forward to a re-make, I doubt it will re-capture the magic of the original (something re-makes often fail to do).
To that end, how do you all feel about a potential re-make & who would you have in the lead roles?

I really like the original. That said, it is very much a product of its time. I just don't think the whole concept "works" as well as it did 25 years (or however long) ago.

I agree with this very much. I also think it works so well because of the cast. Rather underrated imo.

the original movie said and did everything is there is to do with the concept.. I don't mind remakes if your coming from a different angle to the subject or if there are things that couldn't be done decades ago that can be done today..sure

but none of that is necessary with this subject?

Maybe instead of a remake, it could be a soft reboot, where Woody Harrelson's character mentors a younger white man on not being able to jump.

Yeah I think that a sequel/semi-remake is a better way to go with this. Have Woody and Wesley mentoring two younger guys or gals. Call it something like...
