Whiteout

It is about a killer on the loose really, I think they make it look like a monster with random powerful weather force lol

Exactly! The trailer gives no mention at all of a killer on the loose, it makes it look like the Arctic itself is attacking them or something. They literally don't mention a killer or anything not even once, it's just a bunch of shots of winds blowing and seemingly causing plane crashes and stuff.

I'd be pissed if I saw this thinking it was like a monster or ghost movie and it's about some murderer. :hehe:

False advertising. People are thinking this. My own dad was like, "we need to see this, there's some kind of thing hunting them down." :o

So it is just a normal human killer?

PASS.

^I have to admit, the trailers didnt make it out to be just a normal killer movie.

Why didn't they make it a monster if they were going to market it like that because they knew it would grab more interest???

I was wondering what that movie was about. After watching the trailers I thought it might be a remake of John Carpenter's The Thing. Now that I know it's not I'm actually curious to see it.

They tried to make it look like the thing or a horror movie.

It's in fact a really crappy B-movie with some decent actors and good production values. That's it really.

The dialogue is AWFUL. Gabriel Macht's character came off like a studio executive mandate like "we need a male lead because a female protagonist turns off our main demographic."

Seriously, the theatre I was in couldn't stop laughing at most of the dialogue in what were supposed to be SERIOUS moments. Not a good sign.

Just FYI, this movie was by the director of SWORDFISH.

The shower scene in the movie was terrible. Its a few nipple and ass crack shots away from being pornographic. I think Kate Beckinsale was hot, but the scene was just disturbingly pornographic, it added nothing to the movie. I think Sena and Silver was basically like, "we need a shower scene for the 13 yo boys to wank off to."

Just remember, this is the same team that paid Halle Berry extra to throw in a topless scene for that ****ing awful Swordfish movie. I wonder if they gave Beckinsale the same offer.

Too bad they marketed it like this. The actual premise is pretty cool...trapped with a murderer in the ice.

But the movie sucks it seems.

There were slow motion shots in the movie that were just . . . ugh. This movie should've been released direct to video. Its basically this year's Ghost Ship except without the supernatural aspects.

Its a murder mystery with a unique setting but that's it. Bad dialogue. Bad acting and direction.

Yikes, movie must really suck

Rotten Tomatoes

7%

is this movie as boring as the trailer looks?
any gore? mystery?

A hot shower scene? Cool, ill netflix it in 6 months.

Swordfsh was not awful. :cwink:

I remember reading the graphic novel a year or two ago and was left not impressed at all. Talk about underwhelming. I did love the artwork though...

For it to be a crime thriller the writer didn't even try to fool me as to why or whodunit as he felt satisfied with making the plot so straightforward. I figured out where the story was going before I was halfway finished with it. The characters weren't fleshed out enough for me to care for any of them, the climax was ultra dull, etc...

Unless liberties were taken to spice up the story as it translates to film, how could it be any better than what I've read? Apparently critics and viewers have spoken: This film is a bomb. And believe me, critics have been off alot this year but they seemed to have pinpointed this film accurately.

Some friends of mine refused to heed my warnings (afterall, I just read the book...movie might be better right?) on this and went to see it last night regrettably so. Two hours of their lives they'll never get back.

Marketing this as the second coming of a John Carpenter classic in the trailers was grossly misleading as well.

I might see this film tomorrow, I want to but its talking my mates round lol Sounds bad but hey last film they picked was horrible anyway :p

NY Daily News

Sadly, Whiteout wimps out, starting out like The Thing and winding up like CSI: South Pole, wasting whatever it has going for it.

There wasn't a monster in it :P

I know nothing about the source material, a guy I work with told me it's about people in Alaska with a monster.

Either way, the movie doesn't look very interesting, I may just end up waiting for netflix.

This explains the hype for this movie leading up to it's release. Basically everyone thought it would be like The Thing and got jipped.
