Whiteout is Coming in September

Pictures has scheduled a September 19th release date for the Dominic Sena-directed Whiteout, starring Kate Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Tom Skerritt, Columbus Short and Alex O'Loughlin. This is how the studio describes the film, based on Greg Rucka's graphic novel:

After two years stationed at Antarctica's South Pole research base, lone U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) is as anxious as anyone to be going home. She's turned in her resignation and is counting the hours and minutes to the last plane out. But three days before departure, a body turns up on the ice and Carrie is immediately thrust into Antarctica's first murder investigation. As the death toll mounts, the mystery deepens with shifting loyalties, deadly whiteouts, and a relentless killer who will stop at nothing to protect a secret buried for over sixty years. Now with everyone around her packing up and getting out, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into six months of darkness and she is stranded with the killer on a land where nothing comes in and no one gets out.

Wooohoooo! at last a release date. I thought September or October were good months for this one. Ive read the book and it's awesome, so i am even more hyped for this movie.

Beckinsale Demands Bottom Double

Kate Beckinsale has reportedly demanded a body double for her latest film - because she feels self-conscious about the size of her bottom.

The slim star, 34, allegedly refused to bare her derriere while shooting a shower scene in new movie Whiteout - forcing producers to hire a $2,000 (GBP1,000)-a-day model to stand in for the star.

A source tells Britain's The Mail On Sunday, "The script called for her character to be filmed nude in a shower, focusing in on her bottom and thighs.

"Kate insisted on a double being hired. She was quite open on the set about not liking her body and said she particularly loathed her bottom and was not comfortable baring it."

Now alive 'n kickin' in our Comic-Con photo gallery you'll find a look at new one-sheets for Whiteout (take a look) and Dave Parker's Dark Castle horror film The Hills Run Red (feast your eyes).

This is the third one-sheet we've seen for the Kate Beckinsale and Alex O'Loughlin-starring Whiteout. A poster made its debut at last year's Comic-Con. In Parker's Hills, a film fanatic's obsession with finding a complete print of an infamous slasher movie leads him and two friends into the backwoods where the film was shot. They realize too late that filming never ended—and now they must survive a nightmarish onslaught or become part of the movie forever.

First presented at the 2007 Comic-Con, Warner Bros. Pictures has finally set a release date for its adaptation of Greg Rucka's graphic novel, Whiteout, directed by Dominic Sena and starring Kate Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Tom Skerritt, Columbus Short and Alex O'Loughlin.

ShockTillYouDrop.com says you can expect the movie in theaters on April 24, 2008, a week before the summer kicks-off with X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Hannah Montana: The Movie. The only other movie scheduled for the 24th at the moment is Pierce Brosnan's adventure pic, Vanilla Gorilla.

This sucks, it was at comic con last year, you would expect it to come out this year any reason why it's pushed back????

There are 6 films opening on Sept.19 but its not really a good sign when a film gets pushed back so much like that. Especially when you have two of the huge summer of 2009 films opening the next week, taking up theatre space.

Over the summer, at Comic-Con, one of the film's producers told us it was ready for an April '09. Obviously, things have changed.

Whiteout follows Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale), a lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica whose investigation of the continent's first murder draws her into a shocking mystery. Now, with only three days until winter, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is punged into darkness and she is stranded with the killer.

And if the movie was really terrible wouldn't they have dumped it into a small release then quickly put it on DVD? Maybe it has to do with Joel Silver's recent bombs.

I can understand the Harry Potter delay. They didn't have a big blockbuster for summer '09 after killing Miller's Justice League. But really, why didn't they release "Trick 'n threat" this week?

Saw V's 2nd weekend, The Haunting of Molly Hartley plus a Seth Rogen comedy were opening (which performed bad on Friday but it was Halloween). Plus "wider" release of Warner Bros.' RocknRolla and Changeling.

woh 2 and a half years later the films out......why keep pushing it back, april was fine to realse it or like march maybe now we got like another 10months till its out, I read the novel like last year as well...forgot most of it might have to re-read it before this is out again...
