After watching these videos it got me thinking, who would I ask to draw a picture for me and who would the subject be?

As far as I can tell the videos are a few years old (they talk about X-men 3 trailer) but they were new to me.

So if you can get anyone to draw for you who would you get to draw, two or three characters, specific poses, random cross-overs like the videos or more like Batman and Robin?

You're talking about a commission. I've a sketchbook I take to cons and I've got some very nice things done by a lot of my favorite artists. I suppose if I had a dream commission I'd like to have, it'd probably be a Green Arrow vs. Hawkeye piece by George Perez

I've thought long and hard and can't really think who I'd ask for. If I was to get a commission, as you rightfully call it, what if I asked for a character just to be reminded later of a better character? How do you pick? Do you go for obvious characters like Superman, Batman or Spider-man or cool secondary characters or even cool-ish z-list characters?

I'd probably have Booster Gold coz since I saw him in the Justice League cartoon and then in 52 I really like him. And I think Bryan Hitch has some of the best art in general.

Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to decide who you want. That's why one of my sketchbooks is themed - all archers, so pretty much Green Arrow and Hawkeye. Sometimes I'll ask artists to do one or the other, or they could have a choice. I got Green Arrow's from Neal Adams, Mike Grell, and Phil Hester, and Hawkeye's from Scott Kollins and Chris Giarusso.

Lots of people have themed sketchbooks. Sometimes you can ask artists if there's anyone in particular they like to or feel like drawing*. Sometimes you can look at an artist's style and think what character you would like to see done in that style. Often I just ask for a character an artist is particularly known for drawing.

*never, ever do this with Erik Larson ;)

I don't like commissions, I like published work.

what's the difference? If a piece looks nice, it's nice to have regardless of whether or not it's been published. Being published helps, but if it's a commission or a sketch you got, then it was done just for you.
