I found out two weeks ago that my cousin, Who I used to babysit when I was in my teens and he was about 5, Is in Afghanistan with the marines. I always did think the war in Afghanistan was the right thing to do and that it's one of the few things I think Bush did right. Anyway I've been thinking about him alot lately and that got me wondering how many of you had family in the war? So who does? Anyone else?

My father took part in the first Gulf War and last year his ship went to Iraq to drop marines off at Iraq. They then proceded to hunt for pirates waiting for the marines to finish their one month tour but he got to come home months early due to his dodgeball accident. Sometime early next year he is expected to go with his ship for another similar deployment of marines to Iraq.

Not to go off topic or anything but...Dodgeball accident?

I am freaking pleased to say that I don't know a single person who is putting his or her life on the line for the deceptive agenda of P.N.A.C.

I'm mentally-oblitterated to know that so many poor, deceived souls ARE being blown apart, maimed, and killed for a f***ing lie.

I have a couple family members in the military but they haven't been shipped out to Afghanistan or Iraq and I doubt they will.

We originally thought that it was basketball. So we made fun of him getting hurt in basketball because the last time he played basketball he ruined his thumb and had to have therapy for it. Annoyed he told us it was dodgeball.

He was playing with people half his age and somehow destroyed his knee in the process. He was on crutches for about two months and had to go through therapy for a few months because his tendons were basically torn and had to go through surgery to reconnect them.

Now we occassionaly make fun of him for getting so injured in a game of freaking dodgeball :p

My Grandfather was in WWII, I had great pride for him as a person and as an former member of the military.

I think most people's grandfathers were in WWII. Both of mine were. One was even at Pearl Harbor. He survived.

Mine was in the army but he was stateside.

those fighting this war....bless'em and pray for 'em, because it's absolute b.s. what Bush is doing:

lying to us about a b.s. war continuously and using these kids' lives for those lies. and having no exit strategy...why doesn't he just go to these people's houses and just take a sh#t on their porch and stick an American flag in it..you know...for the moms...so they know that bush at least took the time to be honest that he really doesn't give a f#ck about thier children's and loved ones lives.

ok...end of rant...and i know no one in whose in the war personally.

I don't have any family in the war but I do have plenty of friends. I was in the army and at around the time I was getting out, some of the guys I came in with decided to re-enlist. A guy I went to basic with was killed. I tend to keep up with casualty lists and whatnot looking for a familiar name. It is all very depressing. As terrible as war is, I often think about re-enlisting myself and I am not sure why exactly. But then I realize that I am 26 and still in college because of the time I served in the army. I don't consider it lost time, but at this point the last thing I really want to do is stop college so close to graduation and go back for another three or four years. But who kows?

My friend's dad was in Iraq for some time, that's the closest I've come to having family in it.
