Can somebody tell me which is better to join? The Army or the Marines?

I heard the Marines gets shoddy equipment and get treated poorly overall.
But then again I'm not sure about the Army.

Does anybody have any advice for me?

I found out two weeks ago that my cousin, Who I used to babysit when I was in my teens and he was about 5, Is in Afghanistan with the marines. I always did think the war in Afghanistan was the right thing to do and that it's one of the few things I think Bush did right. Anyway I've been thinking about him alot lately and that got me wondering how many of you had family in the war? So who does? Anyone else?

How do you get into the Airborne? Can you apply right up front?

Yes, just tell the recruiter that after basic and AIT you want to go to Airborne School. Just applying up front isn't a guarentee though. It is a school and you have to pass. Althrough basic my Drill Sergeants made Airborne school to sound like hell, but in all honesty it's pretty easy...if you don't have a fear of hights that is.

The Marines. Once a Marine. Always a Marine.

And no I'm not a Marine. My father along with 4 of my Uncles are. Of course they're inactive.

As for family in the military. I know of 2 cousins that are in the Navy. Might be more that I'm unaware of.
