I keep on seeing a lot of talk about it not being like 616, but I rarely hear people talk about Ultimate-which there are some clear nods to/lifts from.

For those unfamiliar or haven't read it, 12 year old Reed Richards discovers he has bulit an interdimensonal transporter , he's recruited to be apart of the think tank of brilliant children known as the Baxter building . Once there he becomes the protégé of Doctor Franklin Storm, father of Sue & Johnny. Sue is brilliant in this universe and is said to be smarter naturally than Reed, by Reed's admission in a candid conversation with someone else. Then there is Victor....Van Damme, He's a jerk and considered eurotrash, he becomes friends with Reed after an argument about Reed's math on something.

So after Reed finally accomplishes a life long dream of creating an interdimensonal transporter on the scale he alwaysd wanted. He invites his friend Ben Grimm . Ben had always had his back when they were kids but after going to the Think Tank, Reed lost contact. The 5 gathered together they prepare to test the machine, Victor warns that there may be some instability and they may need to adjust calculations. Reed ignores him and Victor seemingly adjust it anyway, which seemingly causes the accident. They're spread out across the world with Victor ending up in Latveria wearing rags as he scrambles whatever he can to make what he can.

Now...doesn't that all sounds familiar to the things seen? I personally like the ultimate take on the 4 because it's a Reed going from the wide eyed idealist to a man who is willing to commit genocide in the name of scientific achievement(which would be an interesting place to go). I have no idea what the film is gonna be like as a final product, but am holding out hope for the first batch of reviews to hear what is up.

I have bought issues 1-3 of ultimate FF.it's very clear that's main influence for reboot.

Which is one of those things most people don't seem to realize. And it makes me slightly frustrated especially when it's very clear that's what's happening, but people are quick to be positive about MCU which is ultimate marvel like hell down to even having some of the character changes (like Hawkeye being a family man)

I've read Ultimate F4 and this film doesn't resemble anything about that failed line either.

Reed is too old for Ultimate, but waaaaaaay too young for 616. Ben in Ultimate F4 is still a big buff guy, in this he's teeny tiny Billy Elliot. Ultimate Thing also wears pants. Johnny isn't black in UF4. Sue isn't adopted in UF4. Doom isn't a blogger in UF4, he also isn't covered in trash bags.

The machine to go to the negative zone in UF4 looks like a stargate, in this it's Alien style pods. In UF4 they don't explore the N zone, the machine explodes and they wake up with powers. There is no Harvey Elder in Ultimate F4 and Ultimate Mole Man never wore a suit or looked normal.

Nothing from this film is taken from any version of the F4 other than the title. This sudden "don't worry its Ultimate F4 guys" from Fox is nothing but a desperate attempt to get people to think it's faithful to at least one version of the F4, but it isn't. During filming Trank straight up told Mara this wouldn't be based on any published material, so from the director himself it isn't Ultimate Fantastic Four.

Yes, most of us are aware they're taking some things from UFF.

Most of us are also aware that UFF wasn't good.

Even this was based entirely on Ultimate F4 (which it does draw elements from), it doesn't matter.

UFF sucks.

So saying the movie is based on that just makes things worse.

Reed was 21 at the time of the accident, Miles easily can pull off 21 still.

Also they've been saying it's ultimate since the collider interview . And all those changes you listed are cosmetic, the fact is Reed still made an interdimensonal transporter at a young age, he's recruited by Baxter, lost touch with Ben, him and Sue hit it off, Johnny is a troublemaker who is average compared to the other Baxter kids , Doom is still a guy that intinally has Reed's back. these complaints of it being not like Ultimate are like how MCU, which has a lot of changes from ultimate but is wayyyyy closer than it is to 616.

So that FFino thing doesn't really apply, it's a misnomer .

Also two the two who said UFF wasn't that good, that's like your opinion .

I mentioned that many times and was bashed.of course now to avoid aruements i put those on my ignore list and that way arguements can end:woot:

I made it through about issue #10 of UFF. I couldn't make it past that. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Ultimate FF was complete and utter garbage and basing anything off of it would be an immensely bad decision.

I don't know why the supporters of this have to spread falsehoods. First, these are major character changes. If they made a Superman film starring Kevin James where he wore a black hoodie and was raised in an orphanage that would be equivalent to what they're doing here, except they're doing it to every character.

Second, if the MCU were closer to Ultimate than 616 we'd have an Iron Man with a painful genetic disease, hippie Thor with an axe Mjolnir, etc. There are very few Ultimate style changes in the film's and none of them affect the core characters and their personalities. Only Nick Fury is mostly Ultimate.

And we all know how super easy it is for the people behind this production to make bad decisions.

Also the formation of the avengers being a shield thing, also cap being found by shield, also Hawkeye being a family man. Then there's stuff like the chitari being their first big challenge as a team, Tony NOT being subjected to extremis, thor being though to be a crazy man when he claimed to be the god of thunder (as well as not being sealed in the body of Donald Blake ). Tony and Rhodey going to school together pre-iron man. I said closer not exactly .

Please stop with the deceit. Ultimate Thor was literally a hippie, that was a major part of his character. Tony Stark was stuck in the suit because of a genetic disease. The Hulk was a cannibalistic pervert. These are the cores of the Ultimate versions of these characters, and they are nowhere to be found in the MCU.

The 616 characterizations are all over the place however. Things like Loki being the enemy to bring the group together. The look and personalities if the Avengers. Etc.

Don't forget throwing Banner out of a plane to get him to change into the Hulk. That's a scene straight out of The Ultimates.

I never said anything about their characterizations but I was pointing out how much in terms of actions things were ultimate universe.

I read up to the first 25 issues of UFF. Some of it I liked. A lot of it I didn't. It certainly pales in comparison to the iconic 616 version. If Fox could have done justice to the 616 version the first time around a lot of us would be more willing to just "go with the flow" on this one.

This movie isn't even drawing much from Ultimate. Ultimate did not feature Mole Man-in-a-suit, scrawny Ben (and Kinberg says he wrote Ben that way, it wasn't done strictly because they cast Jamie Bell), it didn't have Domashev, it DID have the terrifying Goat Man™, etc.

to claim they didn't take elements of the ultimates for MCU is very untruthful.
