Who is best suited to play the title role in the film version of"Black Panther"?

I'd feel Jimmy-Jean as Panther on looks, but I don't know how flexible his accent is, honestly. He lays on the creole pretty thick in Heroes. And range-wise, he's unproven, "The Haitian" is a very even-keeled character.

Hounsou has that sense of regality, that aire of honor that T'Challa simply must have. IMHO, he's leaps and bounds the best man for BP.

I see Chietwel Enjofor as much more T'Challa like both in his Firefly demeanor and eye-acting. Even though he, honestly, strikes me as a bit old.

It's too bad we can't get a young actor to knock this out of the park, like Derek Luke (who also has a bit of African features (other than just being black)).

So Enjofor is a bit to old, but Derek Luke is a young actor? The funny thing is they both are born in the same year? Wow how can that be possiable.

That is funny. Luke has played younger characters for much of his career (re: Friday Night Lights) and has just started doing really meaty adult roles (re: Catch a Fire), which Ejiofor has been doing for quite some time, going all the way back to Amistad.

Hell, even I was agreeing with GL1 until you corrected things (thx btw).

In any event, Djimoun Honsou still has my vote.

No problem and I think that's why people look at Ejiofor as older because of the type of roles, but the reason i pointed it out and looked up the actors ages was because if you look at ejiofor you'll see the guy isn't that old, well that's depending if you think the early 30's are old. I'll take Ejiofor over Luke for BP. Honsou is cool, but I just don't get the vibe from him.

Corrected I am. I actually thougt Enjofor was significantly older than Luke, but, to split hairs, my actual statement, that Enjofor "strikes me" as older is still true, due, as has been said, to the roles he takes.

Villain: Klaw and another major villain from the Marvel Universe...maybe even The HAND ninja clan....one villain would be a bore even if it's just a origin story..Multiple villains is the way to go...After Superman Returns, audiences are getting pissed on overhyped superhero movies with one lame ass villain...

Denzel Washington or Wesley Snipes as T'Challa's father T'Chaka, but neither of them would do it i don't think..

Hudlin and Singleton should come no where near this script...I'd rather have a genius 19 yearold screenwriter plucked from obscurity then these two...There are so many unknown screenwriters and directors that deserve this job...

i totally agree...every film i've seen hounsou in he never disappoints me...he can not only play the African warrior but he could also play the scientist/tactician/diplomat as well...T'Challa has to be very level headed because he has to fill all these roles as a King/superhero/adventurer/warrior/scientist...I don't want to see T'Challa as a mad scientist but as a MASTERMIND.... A character that James Bond envies and everything Tom Cruise could never be...

You guys are slowly winning me to Djimon as T'Challa... that'd be cool...

I'm thinking epic reclaim-the-throne type story. T'Challa's been away, schooling and all kinds of stuff when his father turns up dead. Flashbacks to T'chaka training T'challa (both as a boy (ala kid actor) and as a young man (Hounsou)) as he returns to Wakanda, deals with M'Baku the Man-Ape taking the throne (revealing Wakanda's religious side) while Klaw Industries tries to exploit them for Vibrainium and produces a super-awesome sound machine. T'challa comes back, gets the harem, saves his mom, gets his throne, gets Man-Ape on his side (for now) and takes Klaw for all he's got.

i love Dijmon hes one of my fav actors. hes an absolute beast to when he bulks up for a role. and every movie can use a little morgan freeman. the funniest thing here is ppl kept saying michael jai white, and i thought they were talking about the dude who played Erkel LOL. anyway im worried that whoever they pick is going to have an american accent.

I wouldn't mind so much if T'Challa spoke fantastic English, since he is well educated and a royal diplomat. But I'd much prefer a very sophistocated african accent. Even if they cast an african-american actor, he could easily put on the proper dialect.
