This question was born from a discussion between SW and HP fans. Let's go!

I voted for Emma. Granted, i've seen her in more movies and Daisy i've only seen in Star Wars, but i think Emma is a very solid and talented actress. Daisy hasnt impressed me as much. Hopefully we see more of her in the coming years and can see her in more diverse roles.

I probably need to see more of Watson to comment (I haven't seen her in anything since the third Harry Potter movie), but for what it's worth I like Daisy.

I have seen Emma in way more things, but I went with Daisy. I see more potential in Daisy, along with subtlety and nuance, that I don't see as much in with Emma. Put Daisy in more period and Oscar-bait movies and I think we'll see her shine.

Good idea for a thread.

I'm not sure though. I've seen Watson in more so that gives her an edge.

I really would like both of them to just play "normal" people. Like in a comedy, romance movie, or a very light drama. I know Watson kinda has done that, but the movies themselves weren't that good

I have yet to see a single movie from either actress that doesn’t involve flying broomsticks or space wizardry(which means I have only seen them act as Rey and Hermione respectively).

Need to see more of them to make a final judgment.

Put them both in a period piece called Lady Withersham in the Farthing Wood of Lesser Countenance by Charlotte-Shelley Austen-Wilde and we'll see who's better.

I have seen them in:
Emma Watson:
Harry Potter films
Perks of Being a Wallflower
Beauty and the Beast
Little Women

Daisy Ridley:
Star Wars films
Murder on the Orient Express

Emma have better filmography, but for me Daisy's performance in The Force Awakens was better than any of Emma's.

But I believe both have bright future and potential.

The reason I'm higher on Daisy is that even with Star Wars, which has the depth of a teaspoon, the way Daisy approached her character betrays some deep inner thoughts and unconscious and unspoken life stories there, for a character that really didn't call for it. Imagine if she gets a really serious role one day.

Daisy by a long shot. Emma is horrible and I can't believe she still gets such high profile roles.

Daisy can sing so that wins hands down. Only one of the two needs autotune.

I don't really love either of them. They're both fine, but neither has shown me they're world class to date.

Daisy Ridley is a better actress, but man she was unlucky filmography-wise.

That being said, I'm yet to see a performance from her comparable to best stuff from Blunt, Johansson, Vikander and other.

I find Daisy Ridley extremely bland, I have seen 1 film of her outside Star Wars. Emma Watson execuded so much charm in the Harry Potter films despite her flat performance in Beauty & the Beast.

Kind of a random comparison.

I haven't seen Daisy Ridley in a lot outside of Star Wars, but she can carry a scene. Emma Watson was great for a child actor, but she now gets roles mostly based on millennial nostalgia. She couldn't sing in Beauty and the Beast and had a flatness about her, and her blandness was further highlighted when she was acting next to Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh in Little Women. So...

The thing about both is they are not really leading lady quality. I think Ridley is a serviceable enough to be a supporting actress, she falls into the level of Ben Affleck to me, consistently fine but nothing spectacular. Emma I've just never found all that good outside of Potter. I think she had the real life personality that fit Hermione well, but something like BaTB I'm struggling to see how or why she was cast, especially because it was clear from the first note of the first song she couldn't actually sing.
