Was wondering that myself. By the way, Matt, how did you figure I was a woman?

Coming from a Conservative POV, yeah. Just because he often (just like me) get into arguements with people of differing Political Ideologies, doesn't mean that he is wrong from the Conservative POV. You know? I'm glad that he is able to conduct himself well and opposed to reading a post and instead of picking apart a misspelling, or making a joke, he actually responds to a post. That's acting Smartly.
pheromones honey.
The thing is though, he usually doesn't conduct himself well. StorminNorman, Hippie Hunter, and Immortalfire, even Lazur are examples of conservatives on the Hype who conduct themselves well and while I disagree with them, I respect the hell out of them. All Slim does is post articles OTHERS have written, bold random parts of it and then make snide comments about liberals. Like I said, I'd consider him smart if any of the points he posts were his own as opposed to what he copy and pastes from Sean Hannity's blog or Rush Limbaugh's show transcript.

Stop arguing with the lady, Matt.

I think anybody who genuinely likes Dane Cook should be automatically disqualified...it's time we start to narrow this down.

Well, its true, isn't it? Most of Slim's "original material" are his rants about how all Muslims are evil, freedom hating terrorists.

I don't like the Christian threads mainly because if you do anything besides bash Christianity in there like it's the devil or uphold some wacked out, uninformed view of what's 'Biblical accurate', you get trashed. There is no middle ground in those threads that stresses any moderation, or even a remotely informed view of the development of stories in the Bible. It's just a massive culture war.

Lady? LADY? I'm all man, baby!Stop arguing with the lady, Matt.

I've seen Islamic threads get pretty heated, but you have to understand only two major religions make "absolute truth claims": Christianity as a whole, and Islam. Even Judaism doesn't claim it's much more than a specific culture's series of customs. They also don't evangelize, either.Wow.......on the money.
Now if it was thread about another religion (which will remain nameless) the thread would have been taken down the momnet it started getting hard questions...let alone bashing.
Interesting how the Christian thread stays up.![]()

I think that would be a question of personality rather than intelligence.
Consider:
I don't know ANY real intelligent folk who seek the limelight.
I know plenty who think they are intelligent because they got an "A" in language class,... or they have been told all their lives that they are intelligent,.. so they've bought the hype.
I would think "most" intelligent people don't obsess or call attention to the fact that they are head and shoulders above the common folk, and instead would rather not give up the advantage of being considered "just plain folks."
Are there intelligent braggarts? No doubt. Do I believe the ones smarter than they are have Nothing to say on the subject?
Yup.

Yeah, I forgot to put Logansoldcigar on my list, I thought of him afterwards though.I admire quite a few here (and loathe a couple as well).
Jag is up there. Wilhelm, I like for his irreverence more than anything else. And one guy who I don't think anyone else has mentioned is logansoldcigar. He consistently impresses me with his insight and common sense.
Word.I there's some truth in that. I also think that most people with a bit of intelligence are interested in conversing with others in the hope of exchanging ideas, ideals, experiences and perspectives so that they might hopefully learn a little more and add to their own collection of those things. That can sometimes appear to be attention-seeking, arrogance or an attempt to be a "know-it-all" as they go through the motions of discussing or even debating a topic with folks, which I just consider a part of the process of comparing and sharing all of those things.

And the wise hath spoken. I admire people who are intelligent but those who are intelligent and humble, I look up to them and respect them a great deal. As you mentioned in your earlier post, there are many smart posters here and although I seldom take part in debates, I learn a lot from observing them. They are what makes this place worth my daily visits.I there's some truth in that.
