Who Would you cast as Captain America?

Captain America basically has to look like one of the Nazis. Seriously, he does. I don't mean literally, but he has to have that whole blonde, blue-eyed, all American thing going on, as Steve Rogers just has that abstract look about him.

Scott Speedman was asked at the Rogue Panel in Hall-H if he'd play Captain America and his face lit up and he said "Sure...Why not?"

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Scott Speedman is another Briton. God, why don't people try to search for American actors first?

No, Scott Speedman you won't get Captain America. You can play:
1. Thor if you're buffed enough
2. Namor
3. New Daredevil
But not Captain America. That's reserved for American and preferably blond.

With all non-Americans jumping in to become Steve Rogers, Brad Pitt isn't such a bad idea now..

Hey, if they're suited for the role then I don't see why not. After all it is the character that is American and if the actor can pull it off the best then I don't see why not.

You mean to tell me you would prefer a mediocre American actor to a good foreign one?

Are you telling that the majority of American actors are mediocre? Most foreign actors (particularly UK/Anzac actors) are good?

I say find a good American actor first. If he's not found then get the foreign actor.

Get an attractive white male, 6'-6'4", 25-34 years old, who can act well. doesn't matter who he is. Then have him go through rigorous training to get in shape to become Captain America.

Oh get a grip. He doesn't need to be American. He's a damn actor. His job is to play others. Like freaking Wolverine was Austrailian, and Kingpin was Black.

I think you missed my point. I was saying that if there is someone better suited for the role, don't just discount them because they're foreign. I mean god knows I'd take Clive Owen over Ashton Kutcher if push came to shove.

I'm sure that there are plenty of capable american actors for Cap but if there is someone better suited who just happens to be foreign and willing to act the part then I don't see why that person should not play the role.

Wolverine is not Captain Canada/Canadian Wolverine
Kingpin is not White Kingpin/Caucasian Kingpin
Captain America is Captain America

It's obvious from the name that Captain America is from America. Or maybe that's reason DC-WB picked unknown Midwestern Brandon Routh not Jude Law or Henry Cavill as Superman (although clearly no comic readers know Superman represents Truth, Justice, and the American way"). Why don't give a 100% effort to get an American actor, if not then get a foreign actor? I mean try first, then relent.

Who cares as long as he's PLAYING an American?

The algorithm of trying to find Cap actor should be different than that:
1. Find a good american actor from a pool of thousand aspiring ones and actor database
2. If he's not found then find foreign one.

While your algo on the other hand
1. Mix all actors and find fandom favorite if possible.
2. Get actor from the mix.

If the actor who plays James Bond is almost certain a Briton or ANZ, why can't Captain America be American (at least for the 1st movie)?.

Now, answer that.

Some people care. You obviously don't care.

Well, obviously Marvel should take notice on the care group first. If all fails then go with the don't care.

I totally get what you're saying but I think it's just who fits the character best. That's why we have a British Batman and Gordon. Or a gay Magneto and Alfred for that matter.

I'm honestly okay with your way of things. Just saying that either way they do it is of no consequence to me as long as we get an awesome Cap.

Never knew that Michael Caine is gay :D

I think Cap should be played by an American personally.

I still fully endorse Matt Damon, especially after watching the first two Bourne movies last night.

Yeah but I don't think the guy can do an American accent to save his life...That is one thick british accent.

Save him for Captain Britain or Union Jack.

Bruce Payne is Brian Braddock:-

I like Scotty Caan - primarily from the Ocean's films and the fact that he's James Caan's son - but for Captain America?

Scotty's about 5 feet tall..............

Well seeing as he is married to an actress/model, I doubt he is.

Anyway, my choice for Caps:

I don't care who he's previously played. He's got the look, he's got the build, he's got the voice, and he's a good actor.

I endorse Tom Jane for Captain America:up:

Really? I heard he was gay. Huh. Well that blew my mind.

EDIT: *checks IMDB* Holy crap. Yeah. Totally not gay.

I think having played another Marvel character is a legitimate strike. Especially if he's the Punisher -> Captain America.
