Who Would you cast as Captain America?

I used to agree Damon would be good but after watching Ocean's 11 last night with him standing next to Brad Pitt and everyone else in the cast...he looked small. Real small.

I thought he looked fine next to them in the Ocean's movies.

Jason Lewis is 6' 1", not as buff as McConaughey, but that's not a problem. He may not have as much acting talent, but I think he's okay actor. He could pull of Cap - with good director. Lewis' biggest role so far was in Sex and The City, and he was fine in that.

What stuff don't you like about Matt? Lewis can fill the elusive Thor slott with less acting requirement.

I said this in my previos post page or few back, that i just don't like McConaughey's mannerism, his voice nor the way he speaks. When he speaks, no matter how humble he is, he sounds like his full of himself. Very annoying. If he were to land on this role, I would still see this movie tho. I might get over him. But until then I shall campaing against him. :word:

MATT DAMON!!!

No brainer here. Awesome as Bourne and a great actor. He is the perfect Steve Rogers.

Are you kidding????????? :wow:

Cap is at least 6'4". I like Damon. But let's at least try to get the Super Soldier aspect of this right.

I think this is going to take two different actors.....one skinny one and one muscled up guy to be Cap. The serum does change his appearance even in the comics. Skinny Steve doesn't have the square jaw of Cap. If the two guys look close enough alike, with a little CGI, they can pull this off.

Matt could do the Tom Brady story.

I don't think Cap has to be 6"4 or more...I think he needs leadership presence and to be built...really tall is not a requirement to me.

I never noticed how similar they look :wow:

I keep hearing Jason Lewis being suggestion, so, if we're casting, tv actor, pretty boys, here's another

Ryan McPartlin
he's 32ish, 6'3", blond hair, blue eyes, so, he fits the look

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0574131/
(according to his bio, he Auditioned for Superman, thats kinda interesting)

EDIT: you know i was starting to make his suggestion as a joke, but, for a (kinda younger) lesser known, he actually would be too bad an idea

Yea, I remember him. He was in the mix for Supes for quite a while, going back to the Ratner and McG days.

I could see him as Thor as quicker than Cap, personally.

Matt Damon as Cap. :csad:

Sorry dude. But Cap is one of those characters that no one should pull a Tim Burton with.

Acting ability>>>Height

I think Damon would be a great Captain America, the question is would he be like Halley Berry in X-men or Ben Afleck in Daredevil? Will people look at him and say "Oh there is Matt Damon." or will they say "Oh there is Steve Rogers/Captain America?"
And I think Matt Damon can do that, play Stever Rogers/Captain America without people focussing on him and how famous he is the whole time.

I think what will probably happen is they will pick a relatively unknown actor, like Routh for Superman. The biggest thing he had done was a Soap Opera.

But I could also see them picking someone bigger name, like Downy Jr. for Iron Man.
It would work, as long as they are a great enough actor that they just become the role instead of let the role become them like Afleck.

I say their acting ability should outway where they were born, how tall they are, how famous or unfamous they are, and so on.
their acting ability is the most imporatant.
Will that person be able to play Captain America/Steve Rogers best?

This is what they will see.....:yay:

It's the character that's the star...not the actor (in some cases). Superman is an icon! Doesn't matter about the actor as long as he looks the part.

But I could also see them picking someone bigger name, like Downy Jr. for Iron Man.

Downy bares a resemblance to Stark. Plus his own battles with addictions made for a perfect choice.

I thought Affleck did a great job. I think they dropped ball with the casting choice for Bullseye and Elektra.

Then I guess Gary Coleman can be the Falcon? Why can't we have both? Captain America is just a different animal. He needs to be big in stature and legend. Not some runt like Damon (though he's a fine actor).

their acting ability is the most important.

I say we can have both.

One thing that I think needs to be kept in mind is the audience needs to believe that Steve Rogers was once a scrawny kid. That is the problem that I have with someone like Jason Lewis playing Captain America because I would have a hard time believing that this guy was a wimp at one time.

I'm not saying dissregard the actors looks completely, making sure the actor bares a resemblance to the character is important too.
What I am saying though is in the case of someone like Damon (who looks similar enough to Steve Rogers) some tings can slide a little, like his height.
It would be ideal to find an actor who looks exactly like the character and has the incredible acting required. But most often its either a great actor who looks enough like the character, or a model/wrestler/or actor who looks so much like the character but is not a very good actor.

I was also saying that Afleck was to noticable in Daredevil, maybe it was also because of the rest of the cast (all I saw when they were on screen was Colin Feral and Jennifer Garner and not Bullseye or Elektra) that he was more prominant in the part too. But all I saw when he was on screen was Afleck and not Matt Murdock.
And that is usually why they pick unknown actors for these films, I think.

Okay, that's it. Matt Damon or Brad Pitt for Captain America. I really can't see anybody being better than either of these two. Height be damned. Wolverine is 6'2 for christ's sake. F*** it. As long as the actor is right.

...Yes I am watching the Bourne movies right now.

Jason Bourne is a big part of my case for Damon as Rogers.

I don't see anyone else being as good for the part. And I agree, SCREW HEIGHT!!!
