Seeing as how Danny Elfman has left, whos composing this film? Do we know yet?

some guy named Chris Young

^ agree! His music score its fantastic!

Sony has the rights to his score

regardless of his return the main Spider-Man Suite as well as Peter and MJ's theme, the Goblin theme, will all remain.

but I agree, it's a pitty he left

i read that the story was that elfman wanted to make something new. but raimi wanted nothing new. so elfman left.

why would he now change hes mind?

elfman was the best, i miss his music, hopefully cris young will have the main theme again.

well i mean danny elfman wanted to evolve and change a lot of the themes for spider-man 2. sam said no because he wanted direct continuity from spider-man 1. thats why he has chris young now. young often works with raimi and he is a pawn(lack of a better word) who will keep all the old themes and have no problem with it. Chris young did work on spider-man 2 as well. i hope elfman and young collaberate but the main themes better still be in 3.

yeah, and you could tell it was young in sm2 cause those were the parts that sucked. elfman needs to jump aboard this one too, because a different sounding score means a different tone and atmosphere. i hope young doesn't pull a goblet of fire and forget about all the themes that already exist. goddamn, that will pull me out of the movie.

I thought Young did a good job in SM2

Fromt he getgo I always figured John Williams would be better at composing the spidey them

but the truth is spider-man is somewhere in between Superman (williams) and Batman (elfman)

which would suggest a different composer all together

don't get me wrong the spider-man theme has a lot of thought and emotion in it... and it's very heroic..

Perhaps I am just nitpicking out of personal taste.

I could have seen Rob Dougan (matrix Trilogy) composing for Spidey though

Danny Elfman is a great music composer...Men In Black, Spider-Man, etc...his scores are great.

i didnt like that the music was the same in the scenes where the house is burning.

Christopher Young is awesome at doing dark scores. His work on Hellraiser 1 and Hellraiser 2 is some good dark stuff.

Raimi wanted Elfman to rip off another composer's music (Chris Young's Hellraiser score that was used as a temp track to a few scenes in Spider-Man 2)

Elfman said "no", and tried hard to compromise by making a version of his own to fit the requested scenes.

This went back and forth with retries over and over... and Raimi lost his mind, begging for an exact replica of Young's work.

Elfman said, '**** this... you want ****ing Christopher Young? Go get ****ing Christopher Young... I'm gonna go work on Charlie & the Chocolate Factory." (Yes, he said it in italics).

Raimi went out and got (at Danny's suggestion) '****ing Christopher Young'. And trust me... Danny ain't coming back for all the goat milk in China.

Yeah Danny Elfman!

I LOVE his film music, and while I love the Spider-Man score, ultimately I respect him for sticking to his principles, even if it meant breaking off with a guy he's worked for for 20 years.

I was kinda hoping Raimi would die just after he finished most of post-production... and when the fill-in director came to take over the project, they looked at Chris Young's score, and realized he didn't have anything put together because Raimi asked him to do the impossible: replicate someone elses work to perfection in a new film. So Young (of course) shot himself.

Then the new director hired Danny back, and no one went to Raimi and Youngs dual-funeral. Also in this scenario, Jennifer Lopez too would die because I hate her, and I win.

And AnimeJune, no one cares if you have boobs. :down

I like your emphasis on AFTER post-production - because despite his recent bouts of asshatery, Raimi's still a good director.

Well, I don't think he's a great director... but I think he deserves to finish what he started here. Worse than having someone finish the job is two people with different ideals trying to do the same job. Look at what happened with Spider-Man 2's score... two different people who WEREN'T working together, and then it was all sent off to an editor to patch it up with Spider-Man 1 cuts. Ugh. :down

Let Raimi finish his business.

Yeah, we don't need another X-Men 3. I'll admit that movie was disappointing, but I can't attribute all of that to Rattner. He did a surprisingly decent job, considering he was roughly handled the last film in an anticipated trilogy at the last minute.

I wouldn't want that to happen to Spidey, though.

danny elfman said that he wanted to have two kinds of songs one for spiderman and one for peter, he said that he would combine the two just a little bit, thats kinda hard to do, hes a great composer.

Uh... was that in an interview from 2001? Because he already did that in the first 4 minutes of the first movie:huh:
