Who's Gonna Get Snubbed During Awards Season?

I have a feeling that shutter Island will be completely forgotten

Chloe Grace Moretz's performance was absolutely Oscar worthy. Hit Girl is the characater of the year, like Hans Landa in 2009 and The Joker in 2008.

here are quite alot of old oscar voters and several of them could oppose the use the "c-word" by Hit -Girl.

If it's any consolidation , Chloe might score a nom. with her performance in Let Me In.

i dont see how her acting was oscar worthy. can someoen explain?

-I could see Inception not getting enough credit for how good it is, since it wasn't as popular as The Dark Knight.
-I'm positive Toy Story 3 will be nominated for Best Picture, but I don't think it will be a serious contender, and that might be kind of a snub.
-Kick-Ass wasn't a good enough movie to warrant any nominations.

Horror tends to get overlooked at the Oscars. Silence of the Lambs was like the last big movie to get any recognition and that was 19 years ago.

Inception is going to get a best picture nod, it has no chance of winning but it will get one.

That chick from Kick-Ass isn't going to be snubbed because she never had a chance to be nominated for that performance anyway. If the overhyped movie had actually did the ridiculous numbers that usually smart boxoffice predictors had predicted she would had a slim shot but it didn't so she doesn't even have a slim chance anymore. She has zero chance.

It's doing really well on DVD, so as long as Oscar voters get a chance to see it then it's all that matters. Keep in mind that The Hurt Locker barely made any money at the box office last year.

Inappropriate swearing doesn't make a character Oscar worthy. Chloe Moretz did a good job, but she basically has only two states. Potty mouthed ass-kicker, and daddy's little girl. There's going to be actual nuanced performances that get the supporting actress nominations.

Becaue the Dark Knight got nominated for an oscar right?
I mean that if The Dark Knight, with all its love from fans and critics, didn't get one of the big nominations, I won't be surprised if Inception, which isn't as hugely loved, doesn't get one either.

Cillian Murphy will likely get snubbed for his brilliant performance in Peacock.

COmpletely agree. Which is why she won't ge nominated. Seriously not to offend the Kick-Ass fans , but you gotta be delusional to think that she would get nominated for that performance. Remove the fanboy hat plz and think with a clear head.

Hurt Locker had the advantage that several critics were supporting as well winning major awards early on. That gave the studio confidence to really promote it when the awards season began. I don't see the same thing happening with Kick-Ass.

Pretty much.
I do hope that the movie gets some solid nom. As much as i enjoy movies in general ( be it commercial or arthouse or indie) , i really do hate it when artsy-fartsy movies dominate the awards .

It's funny reading the last few posts, because I came into the thread to say that the only sure-snubs will be against the fanboys. It happens every year.

On top of that it's such a politically incorrect character she portrayed, no matter how good she may have been there's no way they'd nominate an 11 year old girl that was shooting people up and dropping F and C bombs left, right and centre.

Thats true too. I didn't watch Brokeback Mountain because I'm not interested in it or most love stories actually but the Academy was so afraid of making that movie win that they made that terrible, overwrought peice of s**t Crash win the best picture oscar. A movie that never should have been nominated by the way. They just can't stand certain things.

Anyway, ignore the last part if you liked Crash.

I liked Crash. It used up 2 1/2 class periods of sociology for me. Other than that, piece of crap with no concept of subtlety or nuance.

No, she was asked to go into scary terrain as an actress when her character had to
watch her father get burned alive, say a tearful goodbye, and then take revenge,
and she pulled it off flawlessly.

I completely understand that Kick-Ass isn't Oscar bait and that the overall film doesn't derserve too much consideration, but that doesn't change the fact that Chloe Grace Moretz' performance was one of the best of the year and she deserves Oscar recognition.

Scorcese didn't snatch her up for his latest flick for no reason.

Inception should win but why am a getting a Snub feeling?

I don't know what her performance is because I haven't seen the film but she isn't getting an Oscar nom guys. Take your fanboy hats off and just see reality.

if she would give the same performance in a normal move that is nto based of a comicbook noone here would say that she deserves an oscar.just because you love a movie that doesnt mean that it has the best performance.

she was good. but the best in 2010? this is an insult

so what if Scorsese casted her. she is right now the ''IT'' 12 year old girl in hollywood that knows how to act. but that doesnt mean that she is the best female actress.

They are only saying that because she was in a nerd flick...atleast most of them are.

you need to watch the movie. if not for the movie, to see how hypocritical some are here. Kick ass has a lot of times the same editing style like Bay. you knwo that style that is hated here. but when Vaughn is using it its OK. :cwink:
