Who's the Better Director?

Hawks v. Huston, that is tough...I'm gonna go with Hawks, for making one of my favorite gangster movies (Scarface) and one of my favorite romantic comedies (His Girl Friday).

I will say Howard Hawks....but John Huston is extremely close. Very hard to choose.

I think Hawks wins.

How about two Great, 70's, "Anti-Establishment" Directors, for the next round ?

Hal Ashby (Harold and Maud, , The Last Detail, Being There etc.) VS
Milos Forman (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Hair, Amadeus etc.)

Not really up to me, but I'm certainly fine with nite-owl starting the next one.

Ok here's the new round:

François Truffaut vs Jean-Luc Godard.

A "Nouvelle Vague" Battle, cool.

Truffaut for me, no question.
The only Godard movie I really like is "Breathless", incidentally co-written by Truffaut.
