Both Daniel Gillies (John Jameson) and Joe Manganiello (Flash Thompson) are credited as being in Spider-Man 3. There is no mention of either of these characters in the novel, and there have been no pictures or video footage that proves that either of these characters are in the movie. So what gives?

Just goes to show how unreliable IMDB is.

I dunno, Ock. I sense that Raimi might have stuck both of them in. It would make some sense. MJ just left John, we'd probably see him puttering around in a small scene.

But Flash represents a great possibility. Imagine if he encountered Peter while he was under the influence of the Symbiote?

But it's true that we probably would have read about them in the novel or seen them in some kind of released footage by now. Or the reviewers would have noted it.

Damn, I just defeated my own idea. I think I'm gonna go get a drink now. :oldrazz:

When using imdb as a source, you need to stop right there. Its fan submitted stuff and isnt checked until someone sees the credits(and even then......).

they are listed for the same reason aunt may is listed as carnage.

Would they credit them for being in the flashback footage?

IMDB once had Rosemarry Harris listed as Aunt May/Carnage so yeah...

ya although imdb seems like a reliable source, it really isn't

Imdb is actually right guys with one of those. Joe Manganiello did indeed shoot an appearance in 3 as Flash Thompson. Whether his part actually ended up in the movie remains to be seen. It's confirmed on both his official site and his agent's site.

....as for Daniel Gillies (John Jameson), i'm not sure.He did say that he was signed up for the third so i assume like Ursula (chocolate cake girl) he'll be back for a brief appearance.

Gillies talks about the Amazing Spider-Man 2
Posted by Clint Morris on April 19, 2004

Moviehole caught up with the forever cheery Daniel Gillies for a chat about Spider-Man 2 – in which he plays astronaut John Jameson - a couple of days back and he says – in his words – that the film’s looking “beautiful”.

“Mate, you know I am [excited], but I made it like a year ago now. I guess I should be jumping out my skin, but that’ll probably come on June 30, or July 1, when it’s released there in Australia”, the reticent actor laughs when asked if his nerves are in tack. “I’ve had such a long time to think about it, and take it all in, that at the moment, I’m quite calm. But I tell you what; the film looks beautiful, bloody beautiful. I did some ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) for a couple of scenes on it yesterday, and it looks fantastic”.

Gillies said he saw Bruce Campbell’s scene, among others, this week.

The actor told of a stipulation in his contract when he signed on to play John Jameson. “Yep, I had to agree to come back for the third one. No big secret that there’s going to be a third one, it was recently announced publicly, and yep, I’m back. And after all, movies seem to be all about trilogies these days don’t they?”

And Gillies touched on his next movie, “Bride and Prejudice”, with Martin Henderson. “Yep, just did a film with Marty. It was awesome. We did it in England, and then India. It’s kind of like a play and I play a really interesting character, but to tell you much more would be ruining the story. Marty plays this debonair American character, and I’m an English guy. It was such an interesting character to play – so much more than the ‘weird’ movie I did before it. It wad called Trespassing and I played this psycho kid from Alabama. It was a weird film”, he laughs.

The full interview with Gillies will be up in the coming months.

Has anyone considered that they may be at

Harry's funeral?

I always imagined Flash at the Spider-Man day festival, just because his comic book counterpart was such a pro-Spidey supporter. But if forgiveness is the theme of the film... then
I suppose he could be at the funeral and run into Pete there; he might apologize for being such a jerk which could lead into him being in future movies.
I would like to see Flash back from the war and all grown up.

In case you guys forgot, John Jameson is the Astronuat that un-knowingly
bring the symbiote back with him from outer space. This occurs in the comics
and some animated versions of SM.

However, I did see a promo shot of Pete's bike in the forrest, with what looked like a shooting star in some far away distance. I REALLY hope Raimi isn't giving the Symbiote a "fallen Meteorite" backstory.

Sorry, but John Jameson had nothing to with the symbiote in the comics; that was entirely from the 90's Spidey animated cartoon (as was the symbiote making Peter act mean - it only really made him tired in the comics).

With Flash's appearance I was actually thinking that Peter runs into him while he's under the influence of the symbiote. Flash could apologize for stuff he did in the past but Peter is too controlled by the symbiote to forgive him, so he punches him out or something.

You know, it'd just be easier if someone who actually saw the movie posted Flash and John's roles (if any) in this thread.

Didn't Flash like Spider-Man in the comics? Maybe he's at the gay parade thing.

Because...
IMDB SUCKS!!!! SUCKS!! SUCKS!!!!SUCKS!! SUCKS!!SUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKSSS!!

It's coming to Earth on a meteor and Jameson has nothing to with it. The novelization and people who have seen advanced screenings of the movie both say it. They probably chose this route to keep a lower screentime and save money. I'm kinda disappointed too since the symbiote's origin is so random and coincidental, but at least they're keeping the movie grounded in New York.

OK...wasn't it announced a LONG time ago (LONG time ago) that Flash Thompson would appear in a very brief cameo at Spider-Man Day in the film?

Because I remember seeing pics (set pics I do believe) of Flash with longer hair and a beard, at Spidey Day...supposedly he was going to run into Parker for a second...but maybe not.

CAH

I'm not sure about set pics, but I do remember hearing rumors that he would show up at Spider-Man Day.

Haha that's a classic!! :woot::woot:

I'll stop with assuming things at this point. I got tired of it. Im gonna sit and wait. Only 10 days.

D!
