Over the years there have been re-makes upon re-makes of old movies; except for the biblical ones (Jesus flicks excluded). I'm really surprised there has never been a re-make of The Ten Commandments or such...then there are other great stories in the Bible that would make great movies:

Samson
The Book of Job
King David
The Walls of Jerico

.............to name but a few.

Is Hollywood scared to touch these stories? There's definitely a market for it. The Passion of The Christ proved that.

Your thoughts.....

^That is exactly why. Society now days has no interest in seeing biblical stories. Most people see them as stories from long ago, from a book they will never read. But even the historical aspect of it, you think it would be an interest for Hollywood. Good question. I would pay good money for $200 million "Noah" movie.

Actually, they already made one of those and we know how that turned out...

:o

oh,yeah.....um, i'm going to go to the corner and suck my thumb now.

People are cynical about religion themed stuff as of late. Either you're really into it or you're really against it. Though there are a lot of stories that would benefit from ILM or WETA doing the fx. I'd like to see how they'd handle Sodom and Gamorrah.

Excluding Jesus movies, I guess the last biblical feature was Disney's Prince of Egypt, wasn't it? I can't think of anything else since that.

^Dreamworks, actually.

I think the TV miniseries took over this genre.

I've always wanted to see an Adam and Eve movie.

Maybe an adaptation of Josh Howards Lost Books Of Eve? It's funny, I keep thinking of 300 as a biblical movie though it had nothing to do with the Bible.

a david movie would be awesome. lots of epic battles

They could change it though , everyone has their own interpretation.

Fox is developing is Moses movie right now. The news reports make it sound like it'll be like 300 in terms of manliness .

Also if i'm not mistaken , there is also a Samson movie in development. I know there were also some news reports on it but IMDB has the movie listed for the 2012 release.

Edit :
Found the samson story too although it's being updated to modern times .

Anyway i'd love to see a remake of Moses with today's technology. One of the things that even to this wow me , are the shots of the jews walking as the sea parts of the prince of egypt. That stuff would look epic in IMAX

Well, we all know how Bryan Singer made a Jesus movie called "Superman Returns." That's GOTTA count for something.

A King David movie would really be epic.

Paul Verhoeven was supposed to do a realistic depiction of Jesus' life but i haven't heard anything about that project lately.

personally, i'd love to see the Exodus redone incorporating the theories provided by the James Cameron produced 'Exodus Decoded'. that would be all kinds of awesome.

Wasn't Aronofsky talking about doing a Noah movie?

Gideon's story would be kind of like 300, except they kicked ass and didn't get whupped by the pansy Persians.

Controversy. Hollywood doesnt want controversy, and religions are at the top of the list of what execs dont want to touch on for films nowadays.
