Why Can't DC Get it right?

I will agree that The Avengers tie in/continuity hurt IM2 alot. But I'm wondering what you mean that the film was "borderline pointless"?

My money is def. on GL to be the big superhero film that summer

I wouldn't take that bet. But it's definetly out of GL and Thor. I can see Thor edging out GL because of the Avengers tie in, but I can also see GL edging out Thor because it's so cosmic that it just fills the void of cosmic movies since Star Wars. I plan on seeing them both at least 3 times.

But the GA doesnt care about Thor. Most people wouldnt even recognize the costume. During the post credit IM2 scene I had to explain to people that the hammer was Thor's, people just brushed it off. Although Thor does have the benefit of starting the summer movie season

But GL is more known. More people at least know one basic thing about him (the costume, the logo, the ring). Plus it has Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively who I think would draw in a more of a younger teenage audience. It's a space epic with a Han Solo/Kirk/RDJ Stark cocky hero lead.

GL just seems to have more going for it. However, I do think Thor will be the better film

I really don't know how people will respond to Thor.

The public wont know or don't care about Thor's appearance in the Avengers until the Avengers comes out. You can market Thor as "a Member of the Avengers" to the crowd and they won't care until they see it.

Best response I've heard! We don't really know, just like we don't know about GL. Thor is also a mythological being so you never know how people will respond to that. I'm a huge GL fan so me just betting GL will whoop Thor's arse in the BO would be crazy, though I'm loving what I'm seeing and hearing thus far. Here's hoping they all do well though.

It's a film that is just 'there', it doesn't do anything, it doesn't expand on film one, it's just 'there', an empty shell of a movie made with no heart that serves only as a bridging point for films to come.

Thor is gonna depend a lot on how much control Branagh has been given I believe, if he's been given a lot of licence then I think the film stands a chance of being a good film, if Marvel have him on the same leash that they had Favreau on for IM2 then there could be trouble. I have little hope for Cap Am, something tells me that film is gonna miss the mark big time.

For starters I don't rate the director that highly and secondly the release date feels way too soon, I get the feeling this is gonna be a serious rush job, I don't know why they didn't keep the 2012 slot for the film. Not only that I don't know who decided at Marvel it would be a good idea to change the release date of the film to be one week after HP7 part 2, that film is gonna be freakin' massive.

Wow you guys are totally ignoring the Captain America movie's existence. That's just mean. :funny:

I'm rooting for GL most of all, and I'm looking forward to Thor, but I'm also excited for the Cap film. It could be a sleeper hit.

Its weird because Cap is my favorite hero out of the 3. But Joe Johnston is pretty hit or miss with me. Martin Campbell has revigorated the Bond series...twice and Branagh is just a classic director.

Yep BM! It's JJ I don't trust with Cap. But we'll see. Hopefully he will surprise me.

Dribble, Thor was kicking butt until they threw two to GL out of sympathy.

Real score Thor 9 GL 5, 1 Tie

No way man ...

... well ... yeah ok:woot:, but did you look at all 14 points? They gave GL like two lamers.

That's all I'm saying. If you have a sight and you want to be taken seriously, don't kiss ***. Say the truth. :awesome:

And like you guys aren't bias.:whatever: This IS la-la land!:hehe:

Yeah I agree with you there. Even though I liked Iron Man 2, it hangs too much off of Iron Man 1. I don't see it as a bridge to the Avengers as much as I just see it as a bridge to Iron Man 3. I still don't understand why they didn't mention the 10 rings though, but that could be rectified if Favreau wants to mention that Hammer had a 10 rings connection Iron Man 3.

I agree with you about the director and the release date. I was always worried about the Harry Potter release date. I still think the film can be good though.

Black Lanturn, I went back to the article to be specific. Hey I know it is all arbitrary :)!
I only addressed my objection per your post.

1) Well to start off the opening photo of GL has "green hair spray." That stuff is lame on halloween alone, but I'll concede anyway.

6) Odin, a mans man. A warrior, founder of his race, and finally Omnipotent.
Guardians, blue, wrinkly (here) floating midgets. Gnome or smurf … C'mon

10) It starts to heat up here. Beta Ray Bill vs Bolphunga the Unrelenting???
Describided as a "lovable a-hole & an intergalactic *****ebag" against a character as noble as Bill, whose's stared in two of his own mini's and too many to count issues & the latest Hulk animated movie. Again … gimme a break

11) This is really fair (sarcasm) The 9 worlds of Asgard containing 5 or 6 races. To compete they throw the entire DC Universe??? A thing clearly patterned after Marvels success of the late 60's, 70's on. What's wrong with Oa? It pales that's what. No effn'way here.

12) Final insult? Comparring Don Blake, who Odin created to humble Thor to a Steve Austin/Tom Cruise clone test pilot? That's fair!

The two gifts, 2 being modest looking 10, 11, 12 because they just worked them (lazzily) to make the draw.:awesome:

I'll let you pick++

It looks like SVP of creative affairs Gregory Novak is leaving DC Entertainment. It's never good news someone is losing or leaving his job but this was somewhat expected.

BACKSTORY: Greg was hired 6 years ago and was taunted as DC's Ari Arad. That never happened. And while he found success with the direct to DVD animation, it wasn't really enough. Even then, it was Diane Nelson (who is now DC's president) who ran it and made it successful.

None of the other DC movies came together, and The Losers and Jonah Hex was disappointments. It doesn't help that when DC Entertainment was formed last year, basically Geoff Johns pretty much took over his spot.

It's sad but at the sametime, he wasn't that effective. It wasn't all his fault, mind you. Maybe WB never 'got' his ideas until DC Entertainment was founded. But with a Geoff Johns in your corner and essentially now doing the samething, it was only logical to kick out Novak.
