Why Can't DC Get it right?

Hawkman and Deadman are the lamest heroes ever. They shouldn't even be on that list! Plastic Man is the hero I think that is very underrated.

I like Hawkman and if Guillermo Del Toro gets to do Deadman like he wants to, it'd be great.

I can't believe I forgot Dr. Fate. That could be fantastic.

Edit: Oh ****. Captain Atom too. And Supergirl. So much potential.

^ I agree. After HP finishes what have they got?

That's right.

DC.

:woot:

supposed to be The Hobbit. but then WB isnt the only player in that game. unfortunately :(

and even if they get TH (finally) off the ground, its just 2 movies, that would be about 2-6 years worth of potential income max (if they pace them 3 years apart). its a short term solution. they need another HP-like franchise. and the only thing that they have with that kind of potential are their comic book properties.

Look at the potential:

Wonder Woman
Flash
Aquaman
Green Arrow
Zatanna
Firestorm
Captain Marvel
Hawkman
Plastic Man
Birds Of Prey
Teen Titans
Deadman
Lobo
New Gods

and of course:

JUSTICE LEAGUE

its a potential that other studios would kill for. but the tricky thing is always in the execution. and even if the execution is perfect, people are fickle. sometimes the "formula" doesnt always work.

if WB thinks like shrewd banker, they're gonna use Marvel as the guinea pig and see what works for them and what doesnt. then replicate their success, sidestep their failures. thats also one reason why they seem to be incredibly slow.

I'd rather see something done solidly with Doom Patrol or Swamp Thing than about 80% of that list.

I'm a BIG classic Question fan as well...

Captain America and Thor are not guaranteed to work. If GL is a success, the next Superman reboot works out, and the 3rd Batman film is decent... DC will be up on Marvel for movies

My list were just examples.

I like the Question too. I'm not a huge Doom Patrol fan but it could be good. I'd like to see a new Swamp Thing and a real John Constantine movie as well.

A lot of ifs there buddy! But let's be real: Thor is going to be huge. So will GL. It's Cap that is the question mark and even then, due to the ties it has to the Avengers and Iron Man, I think it will do decent as well. But I still don't get your math. Gl, Supes, and the 3rd Batman....that's only 3 films. How will that make DC "up" on Marvel?

The Dark Knight already puts DC 'up' on Marvel.

Sorry Docker. I couldn't help myself. :oldrazz:

Holy ****!! WB owns Thundercats? That I want to see. Maybe even moreso than most of the DC characters.

If they could make a good Looney Tunes movies, I'd be ecstatic. As long as Daffy is the star and not Bugs. :yay:

And Hann-Barbara too? Wacky Races movie anyone? :woot:

Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes, Midway Games, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, Thundercats, New Line Cinema, the Matrix, etc.

That's the other thing that pisses me off about the WB, they destroyed Bugs Bunny. Whoever did that should be hung in the town square.

Looney Toons are 100 kinds of win, but the WB won't play them because alot of the cartoons aren't PC.

DC vs. Marvel = WB vs. Disney.

Bugs is 1 billion times cooler than Mickey. Bugs and Daffy are the Superman and Batman of the cartoon world. :woot:

If people can be immature and talk about how DC "Gets their ass handed to them" in an imaginary competition, then people can bring up TDK all they want. Its called Karma. If DC has to step up and make as many movies as Marvel, then Marvel has to step up and make a movie as revered as The Dark Knight. Or maybe we can all act like adults for once?

First off let's point out that it was you who went on the Avengers board and started a flame war, that was some of the most jealous diatribe I've ever seen, that all I could do is sit back and laugh.

You bringing up TDK at a moments notice is about as convincing as Jesse Jackson playing the race card. It's not convincing and it's pretty much a d***wad move. But this is about what we expect from you.

If you ever bothered to listen to anyone, alot of us admire and enjoy the Nolan Batman films even if it turns our stomach that people like you have orgasms watching it. We're even excited for films like GL which will hopefully be a worthy edition, and alot of us loved the first two Reeves Superman movies.

What pisses us off is that WB pretty much keeps DC from making movies, and they pull the "quality over quantity" card so that lap dogs like you eat it up, in the meantime many of us might never see Flash, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Martian Manhunter or the JLA on the big screen.

That's a disservice to comic book fans, but if pulling the TDK card makes you feel better go ahead.

It's too bad no one can see Bugs and Daffy anymore. My kids don't even know who they are.

1. I didnt start any flame war on the Avengers board. I point blank stated that the avengers panel didnt blow anything away because we already knew who the cast was going in, and that ruffalo would be hulk. I also said that I wouldve been excited if something new were announced concerning avengers. YOU came in trying to instigate with me while saying some stupid crap about ryan reynolds (Worst actor in the world. your words, not mine), and i quickly shut you up.

2. I'm particularly tired of people like you who just come to the DC boards to whine and complain. Maybe if you actually read my posts, you'll see that I'm trying to say that its only fair to pull the TDK card if all people like you can do is troll the DC boards bashing DC films without giving them any recognition. What I'm saying is that stupidity only deserves more stupidity. Dont whine about people pulling cards when all you guys do is whine about the same crap all over again. Normally, i wouldnt even bother with your idiot rantings, but now you're trying to claim i started a flame war when thats not true.

You did start a flame war and it's clearly up for anyone to view if they go over there, or view your posting history.

First off, and get this through your thick head, the Avengers WAS NOT A PANEL. It was a special treat for the fans who stayed around for the Captain America and Thor panels.

Second there was a teaser trailer that no one was expecting, and Marvel did a great job of keeping it under wraps.

Your response was just jealous whining, and it really did make me laugh, and I pulled out my Webster's 10th edition to look up fanboy and sure enough your picture was right there.

Yeah there were people saying Marvel owned DC at Comicon, because it was true. Marvel is just plain better at promotions like that. Just like Apple is way better at that than Microsoft (I'm a PC user BTW). It doesn't mean alot, other than the fact that WB/DC is horrible at promotions.

And you pulled the TDK card only to be a d***, just like you did here. I'm sure that gets you alot of friends in RL.

What you still don't seem to get, is that as comic book fans many of us want these films be it Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Hawkman, etc., etc.

The WB historically has been a hinderance to DC. The first two Superman movies were not even financed by WB. No one is here to whine, but I expect DC/Warner to get their act together and start producing some movies.

Like I say the greatest irony is that Wheadon was attached to Wonder Woman, before the project was canned. But I'm sure to you this was WB's "quality control".

I really don't want to see any other DC characters made until they pull their heads out of their collective asses and get Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the Flash done before the superhero trend dies.

Maybe it is fear that won't let DC get it right. The purity of yellow.
:wow:

From "The Avengers" Thread:

Uh....I'm glad everyones getting excited for things we already knew: That a bunch of Big name actors are gonna be in an Avengers film, that Joss Whedon is directing, That renner will be hawkeye, and that Norton will be replaced.

The part that really makes me laugh is the childish marvel vs dc comparisons, made by the same people who cant go a thread in a marvel forum, hell ANY forum without comparing their favorite hero's flick to "The Dark Knight".

I mean, if there were something new reported, I'd be bouncing up and down but...there wasnt. Just a nice get together.

It's just seeing them all gathered together in public for the first time with the music booming in the background.

Sorry you didn't get anything out of it.

I'm sorry, judging by the downright stupid reactions from some, I'm glad I didnt.

Cant wait for some actual news regarding this movie, though.

If anyone offers geek lessons I would advise you to take them. :woot: This is the sort of thing we get excited over. The group pic alone is enough. Heck...I even got excited when I saw the closeup of Thor's helmet yesterday.

You can see here that no one had a problem with what I said....

Would the stupid reactions include yours?

...just saying.

....Until you posted.

Since you're the guy who just claimed Ryan Reynolds is the worst actor in hollywood, id rather you not say anything, but i can tell you cant help yourself.

That was my response to your stupidity.

I'm hoping wasp makes the final lineup with hank

Oh my god, I'm starting a flame war!!!

So yeah, until you get your facts straight, we have nothing else to discuss, cause you really have nothing but insults and dumb semantics. The next time you wanna air you vendetta against me dont claim I started a flame war. You guys were talking about Marvel vs DC before I posted, when I posted, and After.

if you truly want to have proper DC films done you will have to take our-- well my-- word for it that it was better for Whedon to have left the WW franchise. call it a blessing in disguise. he's free to do Avengers now right? instead of slaving away on a franchise he doesnt like producing work that the studio (and the fans) hated. it all worked out for the best in the end, even if it meant WW got stalled yet again.

WB/DC is starting to produce movies other than Batman. the pace is excruciatingly slow but i think thats for several reasons (you can check my other posts for what they are), but the pressure is on them, no doubt about it. thats the effect of showcasing the Avengers cast. its a treat for the fans? sure. but its also all about power play.
