Sequels Why can't Donner helm the sequel..........

Just saw an interview with Jack O' Hallaran.......actor who played Non. he stated the at the end of Superman 2 the villians did not die, leaving the opportunity of a chance for them to come back in other Superman films. He also stated that Donners' full version (on DVD) is going to rock....he recalled shooting some great fight sequences with Chris Reeve that was not shown (I myself viewed one of them on 'you tube'; a deleted scene where superman punches Non.....Wow!!! finally saw chris throw a solid punch. My question is why can't Warner let Donner take over the Superman Franchise again. It's apparent that Donner was headed in the right direction with Superman 2.

As of now i don't think i even want Singer to direct the sequel. His attitude and comments for Sr and it's marketing are so BS it's not even funny. If he brings better ideas and a better plot for the sequel then i'll give it a chance. But right now i say bring the cast back and maybe, just maybe change the director.
