i started in order to have a conversation with my uncle, who has four chief interests in life, Snoopy, Comics(namely FF), science fiction, and computers. i started reading in order to be able to talk with him about something other than Snoopy.

Comics Forum

I was introduced by a friend, liked em & stayed wiv em.

I was big into Sonic the Hedgehog games, then I got into the comics, then I went to pick up some back issues at a comic store and ended up picking up some Fantastic Four comics too. I've been a fan ever since.

Colorful pictures. :O

Because at four years old I saw the 80's Spider-Man cartoon.

Because my uncle....."touched me".....and it was the only way I could forget.

Also, I was attracted to the colorful pictures. I already had favorite superheroes in mind and I saw comics at the grocery store and my mom bought them to keep me away from the farm worker's abandoned pornos.

When I was first finding out how to read my dad introduced me to Batman comics, the first two books of the Batman:Nightfall series, he'd read them with me before I went to bed. Then I started getting into Spider-man and X-men mostly because of the cartoons :o

It was an escape for me. I was born without a leg, so I always worked on things with my brain. Reading was good, but I remember getting some X-Men, F4 and Archie comics. I was able to relate with Ben Grimm and the X-Men because I was being rejected for what I was, and all I wanted to do was get along with everyone else. And Archie was there to give me something to laugh about.

Between the 3rd grade and 9th grade I was to poor to afford comics. My dad would by me Wizard magazines to read ABOUT comics but I could never afford them. So this gay guy in 8th and 9th grade had a crush on me and was rejected by everyone else. The only thing him and I had in common was comics since HE could afford them. So I pretended for years to be interested in him so I can get access to his comics. HILARIOUS!!

Well buying one Wizard magazine talking about ALL comics was cheaper than buying ALL comics in general.

You are a very evil, malicious person. I applaud you my good sir. :D:up: Did you perhaps tell the gay guy that you used him? Later in life ofcourse.

Edit: Forgot to answer this. I've only read 1 comic in my entire life. Was my bro's and I read it on some field trip thingy whenever there wasn't anything else to do.

read my sister's when i was little, then didn't read for years untill someone donated a ton of uncanny x-men, ff, etc.. comics to the store i work at...i bought a bunch...then went searching for uncanny back issues to fill my refound lust...that was the beginning of the end (700+ comics in about 3 years)

My uncle really got me interested in them. When I was a little kid he had all these comics and action figures and posters all over the apartment. Plus he's like an encyclopedia on superheroes, world war II, and the titanic. So basically I started reading them 'cause I thought they looked kickass, and now I do because I know they kick ass.

They were the next logical step after coloring books.

I had always been a "brisk" fan of the 90's batman movies (watched them all the time when I was younger, I remember fast forwarding through the part in Batman Returns when the cats in the alley ressurected Selina, lol :)), but I really got into comics after I read "The Killing Joke" when I was 12 (in 2001).

I guess it's b/c they seem interesting to me and that's how it began

After I first learned what the precious word "*********ion" meant.

I watched the cartoons, and liked the characters. So I picked up the comics and have been reading ever scence

:) I was 16 years old and visiting my father in the hospital.I stopped in the gift shop and on the magazine rack saw a copy of Iron Man#123 In The Beginning. The cover really caught my eye it was the first comic I ever bought..... been hooked ever since!

I was poor and did not have Internet access and comics were the closest thing to porn mags that had big breasted women in it.:o
