Why do people think bane is over rated?

er so no one here is reading Secret Six? loosers

it will show you Bane that will unmake you

Haha. Yes; there was another Bane thread recently where I tried to explain that if someone claims Bane has "served his purpose" and isn't useful any longer, that person is obviously not reading Secret Six.

The problem isn't that Bane is a bad character, it's just that some writers have handled him badly. The most recent example of this is actually the Arkham Asylum game. Don't get me wrong; the game is wonderful and I love it to death--but Bane got the shaft. Of all the characters in the game, he's really the only one who's written out of character. He's just a dumb brute who dopes up on venom and breaks things. It was sort of annoying. Hell, his biography in the game even describes his considerable intellect and his aptitude for strategy, but do you know what his master plan is in the game? To run at you. And when that doesn't work, he runs at you again. And then he hits his head on the wall. The end.

This is why you have fans who don't appreciate Bane--because some writers just remember him as the big guy with the tubes in his head. Secret Six should be required reading for any creator who wishes to use Bane.

There are no bad characters, just bad writers.

There are some bad characters, but Bane isn't one.

Bane is actually one of my favorite bat-villains. I think people forget that he actually defeated Batman. Which is a pretty awesome feat.

Also Secret Six might be the best comic on the shelves today and he might be the best character in it.

No, there really aren't any bad characters. You show me Armless Tiger Man, I show you a homicidal amputee that could possibly be turned into all kinds of awesome if he were to show up in a Grant Morrison written tale after he's dropped a few hits of acid.
